AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Paul Rudd Isn't Sure If ANT-MAN 3 Is Going To Happen

Ant-Man and The Wasp was a hit but it didn't exactly break records for Marvel Studios. Now, star Paul Rudd has admitted that he doesn't know if a third instalment of the franchise is actually happening...

Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd and Michael Peña can currently be seen in a new Pepsi MAX commercial directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taikia Waititi and Rudd was inevitably asked about whether we'll get an Ant-Man and The Wasp sequel. Unfortunately, despite Scott Lang having a lead role in Avengers: Endgame, he's not sure what comes next for the character.

"I don’t know," Rudd admitted when he was asked about a possible third instalment of the pint-sized hero's franchise. "You need to make a call to the top brass and start a campaign to make it happen." Actors in the MCU tend to be the last who know when they'll be needed again, so this shouldn't necessarily be taken as a sign another movie won't ever happen.

After all, it would be strange for Marvel Studios to not continue putting the focus on Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne seeing as the last movie made over $622 million and there's obviously still a lot of story to be told.

One thing Rudd made clear is that while he enjoyed working with Waititi, he's hopeful that if and when a third Ant-Man movie happens, it will be Peyton Reed who is at the helm. "I was so excited," he explained. "I am such a fan of his and the whole experience was a blast but Peyton is my guy."

Do you think we'll see another Ant-Man movie somewhere down the line?

I wasn't a fan of Ant-Man and Wasp but theres still some potential there. Personally I'd like to see Dave and Luis suit up to become Whirlwind and Tarantula.

@rabid - Just because his name is Dave doesn't mean he's David Cannon. But yeah, Whirlwind is basically Ant-Man's only decent villain, so they should use him if they're doing a third one.

@soberchimera - That's who they were originally meant to be in Edgar Wright's script. But they made Dave Cannon a white supremacist in All Hail The King, so they dropped his last name and cast a black actor to patch the problem. But nobody even remembers IM3 at this point, so they should revert to their original plan.

Although Ant-Man and the Wasp wasn't a really great movie, I like the small-scale of the Ant-Man movies in comparison to all the other movies at Marvel nowadays. And with rumours of a Fantastic Four movie in 2022 and Peyton Reed seemingly connected to it is some way I don't expect Ant-Man 3 to be released anytime soon. Although I can see it take the july 2022 release, I'm guessing Reed isn't attached to it then.

Also, that commercial was pretty funny

@MalseMarcel - I wouldn’t know about the commercial... I get a “not available in your country” (the USA) notice.

the ant-man movies suck and they should skip a 3rd, but if they do go ahead they should at least switch up directors. breath some life into this franchise ragnarok style.

Always kind of rued the missed opportunities with Ant-Man, especially when Edgar Wright was at the helm. Didn't really hate the first one cause it had a lot of Wright's DNA over it (Giggity, Giggity)

Personally speaking though, I thought Ant-Man and the Wasp sucked. Can't quite put my finger on why, but it just seemed a little...boring I suppose.

@LittleSween - Agree 100% and that was Peyton Reed's time to shine without the Edgar Wright shadow. That movie fell flat to me, I forgot it immediately after.

Ant Man and Wasp just need a more compelling villain...or two...or three!

We all know Feige will announce it on D23 this August.
Ant-Man, the Wasp and Stature.

@WakandanQueen - my personal choice for movie title is "Ant-men and the Wasps"

Their story will continue, certainly. They likely need to up the stakes and probably add a bankable costar (Maybe Hulk, in a “Tales to Astonish” kind of thing?). If not, I expect Ant-man and the Wasp to anchor a new team film... maybe the West Coast Avengers.

We will get an Antman 3.

Ant-Man is the best part of the Marvel movie universe, hands down. They better make another one.
