Things weren't looking good for Jonathan Majors, and now they're looking positively dire.
Following recent reports that the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star had been dropped by his manager and PR team, and parted ways with several high-profile projects such as The Man in My Basement and an untitled Otis Redding biopic, Variety is claiming that multiple alleged abuse victims have come forward following Majors' March arrest, and are currently cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
Just in case you weren't aware of the situation, Majors was arrested a few weeks ago in New York after allegedly physically assaulting a woman in her 30s (believed to be his girlfriend). The actor's lawyer claimed that her client was "completely innocent, and "probably the victim," promising to present evidence that would clear him of any criminal wrongdoing.
Said evidence - a series of text messages - only ended up casting Majors in a worse light.
“It read like a bad Lifetime movie. They basically look like the text messages of a textbook abused woman,” one person who is working with Majors on an upcoming project told the trade.
Majors has already filmed his scenes for the second season of Loki, but isn't scheduled to begin shooting Avengers: The Kang Dynasty until next spring. Marvel Studios hasn't taken any action yet, but at this stage, it's probably only a matter of time before Kang the Conqueror is recast.
“I think the truth is everyone is waiting to see what Marvel will do,” an industry insider familiar with the situation tells Variety. “It doesn’t mean everyone will do the same thing, but that’s what people are looking to.”
