Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's did not have a strong box office debut, which led to many people writing it off as another casualty of the superhero slump. However, James Wan's sequel has performed surprisingly well (relatively speaking, at least) over the past few weeks, and is now approaching a significant global milestone.
According to the latest box office updates, Aquaman 2 has now taken in $396.2 worldwide, passing Black Adam ($393 million) to become Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios' highest-grossing movie of last year.

A small but much-needed win, although it probably won't make much difference for the franchise one way or the other. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom marks the final movie of the DCEU era James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU revamp, which means a third movie would have been unlikely even if this one had performed a lot better.
Long-range box office tracking was never very strong, but negative reviews probably didn't help matters. The Lost Kingdom is currently sitting at 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, although it does have a better Audience Score of 79%.

Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin."
