How AQUAMAN's Mid-Credits Sequence Sets Up A Potential Sequel - SPOILERS Ahead

James Wan's Aquaman doesn't feature a post-credits stinger, but we do get a mid-credits scene which may signify the arrival of a new threat for The Protector of the Oceans to deal with in the sequel...

If you were hoping that Aquaman's mid-credits scene would serve as a window to the wider DC Films Universe then you're in for some disappointment, but we do get a moderately interesting tease for a potential sequel.

After being defeated and left for dead by Aquaman and Mera, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is shown to have survived his encounter with the sea-faring heroes - although he's not in great shape.

The villain is rescued from the ocean by a character we briefly glimpsed earlier on in the movie, Dr. Shin (Randall Park), who is obsessed with proving the existence of Atlantis. When Manta comes to and his helmet activates (no Depeche Mode accompaniment this time), Shin asks him to take him to the legendary underwater city, and the vengeance-fueled baddie says he'll do it on one condition: Shin delivers the man who killed his father.

Although Shin never fully turned his back on Arthur Curry and aligned himself with David Kane in the comics, they do have history so there's definitely some precedence for them working together on the big screen.

Tell us, have you seen Aquaman yet? If so, what did you make of this mid-credits stinger? Drop us a comment down below.

I have not seen the movie but one interesting tidbit on Rotten Tomatoes is that the rating for those who "want to see it" has ticked down from 97% to 96%.

As cool as Manta looks, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was wasted. He's basically reduced to shouting as loud as he can at anyone he sees.

@RorMachine - Can you rank what you thought were the best five performances in the film?
