Jason Momoa is set to reprise the role of Arthur Curry for James Wan's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but will he remain on as the Atlantean hero in the new DCU that will soon begin to take shape?
We've had conflicting reports about Momoa's future as the character - and his status has only become more confusing since the whole Lobo thing - but the Fast X star seems confident that he will continue to play Aquaman moving forward.
"Peter [Safran]’s my producer [on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom], and is a dear friend," Momoa tells Total Film. "I absolutely think Aquaman will be involved in the DCU. It’s on, bro – there’s no one bigger than Aquaman! But, also, I hope people are excited to see the new one. It’s fun. I really enjoy doing comedy. There’s some really funny stuff with Patrick Wilson. I really adore him. We had a great time working together. It’s like we’re brothers. There’s a lot of cool stuff happening in this one."
Momoa's comments are in stark contrast to recent rumors about The Lost Kingdom test screenings being an outright "disaster," with one source claiming that the actor was unhappy with the sequel, and wanted out of the part so he'd be free to play Lobo.
We have no idea how accurate these reports are, but James Gunn did confirm that he wouldn't have an actor play two different roles.
