Thanks to theater listings and previous reports, we already had a pretty good idea that Avengers: Endgame would clock in at around 3 hours, and now it's finally been confirmed.

While speaking to ComicBook.com, co-director Joe Russo revealed that the Marvel epic's official runtime will be 3 hours, 58 seconds.

This is hardly the first blockbuster to cross into 3-hour territory, but it is the longest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far by a good 20 minutes (Infinity War ran about 2h 40m). Most fans won't have a problem with this, of course, but sitting in one spot for that long can be a daunting prospect for general audiences.

What do you guys think? Is three hours too long? Should the movie have an intermission? Be sure to drop us a comment down below, and you can also check out a detailed breakdown of the CinemaCon footage that screened the other night.

Thanos' Whereabouts

The footage begins with Captain Marvel vowing to take down Thanos herself, but The Avengers are adamant that she doesn't go it alone.

When Black Widow notes that they don't even know where he is, Nebula chimes in and reveals that The Mad Titan told her about a garden planet he intended to retreat to once his plan was accomplished, and, as we know from the final scene of Infinity War, that's exactly where he went after "The Snap."

Rocket then pulls up a hologram to show a planet where a massive energy signature was recorded two days prior. Yes, Thanos has used The Infinity Gauntlet again.

Plan A

As many have speculated, it seems the team's first plan of action will be to use the still-working Infinity Gauntlet to reverse the effects of the stones once Thanos is defeated.  Although we don't get many details in this clip, at one point Carol proposes that they “use [the stones] to bring everyone back.”

Based on what we've seen from the trailers, it's assumed that this first attempt will fail and that's why they'll need to use those white suits to enter the Quantum Realm.

Tony Stark And Scott Lang Are Not Present

Although we know Iron Man returns to Earth with Nebula and is seen reuniting with Pepper in the most recent trailer, by all accounts neither he or Scott Lang are present during this scene, nor do they travel into space with the others.

Are Stark and Ant-Man off working on another way to reverse "The Decimation," or does Tony still harbor some bad feelings about what went down between he and Cap in Civil War?

Where Has Captain Marvel Been?

It doesn't look like Endgame is going to devote too much time to revealing what Carol has been up to over the past two decades, but we will get an explanation... of sorts.

At one point, Rhodey asks Danvers where she's been all this time, and she responds by telling him that “there are a lot of planets not as fortunate to have you guys.”

It's not much of an explanation, but it may well be the only one we get in this movie.

"Let's Go Get This Son Of A Bitch"

The team decides to use The Benatar to travel to Thanos' planet and attempt to take him down. Before they board, Cap rallies the troops with an uncharacteristic, "let's go get this son of a bitch."

We then see the heroes begin their journey, while Rocket asks his new crew if any of them have never been to space before. Cap, Natasha and Rhodey all raise their hands, and Rocket says he doesn’t want anyone puking in his ship.

The scene ends with celestial light reflecting in Steve's eyes as the ship jumps to light-speed.

Is someone else having that weird sad feeling that this movie is almost here? Don't get me wrong; I'm SUPER excited. Although it feels weird that the wait is over and... I think we'll know this movie won't be without consequences. Endgame is gonna be an emotional ride...

@Unites -
In regards to consequences, the potential death of Tony Stark would be enough. Killing off Captain America would help, but Tony needs to die for the most consequences to occur in the MCU and for a sense of the first three phases being a singular storyline.

• Stark Industries falters without it's owner
• Pepper is forced to take over Stark Industries
• Peter loses his mentor and his desire to be a hero falters
• New rival business appears in the form of Oscorp setting up 'Dark Reign', 'Dark Avengers' and 'Seige' storylines
• Without Tony to act as a go-between, the relationship with the government sours resulting in more control over the Avengers potentially a government led Avengers
• Without Tony funding them, the Avengers are forced to relocate rather than rebuild moving into 'Avengers Mansion' which will later down the line become the X-Men Mansion.

@Unites - not just you! It's the end of an era. We've followed these characters for 11 years and this will more than likely be the last time we see some of them. At least with these actors playing them. I've got a feeling this movie will be very bittersweet for me.

@Scarilian - I wouldn't like the Avenger's Mansion becoming the X-Men's has always been up in Westchester.

@Scarilian - "Peter loses his mentor and his desire to be a hero falters"

I personally think thats a Terrible idea. Peter starts to not want to be a hero anymore cause Tony died? The Spider-Man I know would feel 10 times more responsible and focus more on crime fighting. We've already seen too much of this Spidey caring about the approval of Iron man, it wouldn't work for a lot of people like my self

I'm seeing explanations for why Carol has been elsewhere but no possible explanations for why she hasn't aged?

Forgive me if it's obvious like the Kree blood slowing down aging etc. but i'm just curious

@JakeyChappers - The Kree live longer, so I assume they age slower.

@JakeyChappers -
Personally would go with the idea she is a Skrull, revealed in the post credit scene when she discusses things with another Skrull (Mariah Hill)

That way we'd spend from Endgame till Captain Marvel 2 discussing what happened to Carol, if the movie is going to be a prequel, who else will be a Skrull, etc...

@Scarilian - i wouldnt count on that. They just stablished them as a loving peaceful race (thank you for ruining the skrulls after years of anticipation of finally seeing them on the big screen). I know that feige said that theres place for bad skrulls, but that sounds like something to calm criticism and, if it really happens, i doubt they want to change their perception already stablished in Captain Marvel so soon

@WorldsFinests - it’s not calming criticism, it’s being realistic and adding depth that everyone claims to want. all the skrulls don’t have to be evil mustache twirling villains

It all makes sense now! 🤣

@ShimmyShimmyYA - totally agree with that, but i think the ejecution was bad. Its their introduction and they went from being the generic evil iliens to the generic peaceful and friendly aliens. There should have been a middle ground from the start. Like actual life, theres not blacks and whites, just grays. Making the kree sympathetic but them using immoral practices and doing the same with the skrulls would have been perfect.

@Hawknaba - But seriously tho, the 3hours seems like it's gonna be long but i'm here for it, there must be great movies out there that are as long (not LOTR)
TheUnworthyThor

@Hawknaba - So many. Schindler’s List, Dances with Wolves, Ghandi, Gone with the Wind, Spartacus. Such a great length for a movie especially an epic.

@TheUnworthyThor - I remember the King Kong movie with Jack Black being really long, first film I saw where the cinema had a break half way through

I'm okay with 3 hours, but those 58 seconds will be a killer.

Damn those 58 seconds really are killing. And I should really find another cinema, since the one here charges an extra euro for movies over three hours

@MalseMarcel - You are kidding right? They don't actually charge extra euro for more than three hours???
