AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors Reveal Which Three Movies You Need To Watch Before April 26th

Avengers: Endgame is a little over two weeks away from hitting theaters, and Joe and Anthony Russo have now revealed which three Marvel Studios movies you should watch before the massive ensemble arrives.

With the days counting down until Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters, we're all running out of time to rewatch the previous 21 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that have been released.

However, the Russo Brothers have shed some light on the three films they believe are a must-watch for fans before they sit down to experience what's being billed as the end of an era for the MCU.

"[Captain America:] Civil War and [Avengers:] Infinity War without question because the events of Civil War directly affected Infinity War, and we would argue that the reason they lost to Thanos is because of Civil War," Joe Russo reveals. "Clearly, that carries over to Endgame. If you're going to add one more in there, I'd probably say [Captain America: The] Winter Soldier, only in that those are the four movies we directed, and they're all thematically connected to one another."

That's a damn good list of movies, and should definitely bring fans up to speed. "This is from our point of view in the storytelling," Anthony added. "This is the thread we're working with."

Depending on whether the Quantum Realm factors into proceedings, Ant-Man and The Wasp could also be considered a must-see, but that hasn't been confirmed and the Russos are being careful with spoilers so it's no great surprise that they're choosing their words carefully.

The Russo Bros gave us some of the best Fight scenes in the MCU, can't wait what they have in store for Endgame

I have no problem with them giving people the excuse to rewatch Cap's trilogy: it's the best thing in the MCU next to the first Iron-man, Guardians 1 & Infinity War itself.

@SwampThing - You have good taste, Chief.

@SwampThing - To this day can’t believe I would ever be saying Caps trilogy is my favorite comic book trilogy. Winter Soldier has my favorite fight scenes of all time between elevator, jumping OUT of the elevator, Widow grappling under bridge and that split second decision making in a fight, and Bucky sliding that knife across the van. I mean there’s so much more to like (opening running scene through the ship, tracking camera shot!!?!?). The biggest feat was not making Cap look cheesy or silly. And what speaks to me the most, finding your convictions, and your brothers and sisters, in a tumultuous world and never budging.

@SanFranLand - Cap hands down has the best CBM trilogy IMHO, so much heart and so many stakes across 3 films with obvious character development all around.

@DoctorDoomSayer - So much heart. Between Cap/Peggy, CAp/Bucky, Cap/Widow, Cap/Falcon. It is love, friendship, brothers. It’s all so impossibly genuine. What a trilogy.

They said we have to watch SHAZAM to keep the SUPERHero GENRE Going. Clumsy Toenos again?

Are you kidding me? I'm watching 'em all!

I already saw the tentatively connected and therefore optional Howard The Duck (MCU #-1, on account of Joe Johnston) and Ang Lee's Hulk (MCU #0). Tonight my MCU marathon begins in earnest with Iron Man (MCU #1).

"So basically, just watch all the movies that have 'Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo' at the end."

Not really a fair assessment if we're being honest.

Pff, I’ve already been watching them over the past few months. And slighty OT: but is anyone else wondering what the movie timeline is gonna be the Russos are now counting down on on their Instagram?

Well, even though they are the movies they directed, they do have a point since they are the ones that directed them, that narratively makes sense. Watching any other variations of only 3 prior MCU movies doesn't necessarily, tonally match. Although, arguments can be made for different movies. If it were me, and I could only choose 3 movies, I'd personally say just the prior 3 Avengers movies, but arguments can be made for other films. I'm sure Infinity War has to be on everyone's list though. lol
