AVENGERS: ENDGAME Passes AVATAR's Final Domestic Gross And Becomes Second Highest In History

Avengers: Endgame has overcome yet another obstacle in its journey of box office domination, and though it may not break all the records, there is no way a feat of this sort will ever be forgotten...

Domestically, Avengers: Endgame has absolutely shattered box office records since its release on April 26th. With a gargantuan opening of around $350 million, expectations were sky high for its performance over the following weekends. Even though its legs have been a concern in its race against Avatar to become the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide, it is projected to beat the film domestically by Saturday night.

Box Office Pro's Saturday estimates show that the Marvel Studios epic's current $748 million gross will overtake Avatar's $760 million before tomorrow morning, making over $12 million for the day. This makes the film the second highest grossing domestic release in history, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens' seemingly unreachable $937 million.

Due to the film doing ~60% weekend drops since its release, Avatar's worldwide record is still in contention - though analysts are finding it more unlikely by the day.

Want Avengers: Endgame to take down Avatar worldwide? Maybe go watch the movie a few more times!

Worldwide is all that's left to beat it. Whatever it takes.

If Endgame doesn't top Avatar globally, it's going to come extremely close to doing so, which will be annoying.

I did my part, i'm rooting for em, if Endgame can't top Avatar, i'm afraid nothing will...
Which sucks cause...c'mon man, it took 11 years to get here...

I never expected it to beat The Force Awakens. A 937 million domestic seems far more unlikely than a 2.77 billion worldwide, and this something I'm already sceptical about. It definitely needs two more solid weekends to do that

Thank god! Avatar was crap. Force Awakens though, that's a worthy number 1.

We need another movie starting with an "A" to be the third highest grossing movie of all time that way we have triple A's on the list.
