AVENGERS: ENDGAME Snaps Away AVATAR To Officially Become The Highest-Grossing Movie Of All-Time Worldwide

While Kevin Feige stopped short of saying ii, it appears his bosses have gone ahead and called the race. So, it's official. Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame is now the highest-grossing movie of all-time!

"Avengers Assemble!"

After Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige alluded to it on the Hall H stage tonight at San Diego Comic-Con, Walt Disney Studios officially announced that, with a global haul of $2.789 billion, Marvel's Avengers: Endgame is now the highest-grossing movie of all-time, breaking the decade-long record held by James Cameron's Avatar ($2.788B).

While the weekend numbers haven't updated just yet, as of Friday, Endgame was just around $500,000 behind Avatar for the record and was widely expected to bridge that gap at some point today, which it managed to do right smackdab in the center of Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation.

In a statement, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn said, “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights." With Avatar and its upcoming sequels also now all under the Disney banner, Horn added, "Of course, even with the passage of a decade, the impact of James Cameron’s Avatar remains as powerful as ever, and the astonishing achievements of both of these films are ongoing proof of the power of movies to move people and bring them together in a shared experience. The talented filmmakers behind these worlds have much more in store, and we look forward to the future of both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Pandora.

As Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the remaining Avengers gear up to use the Nano Gauntlet, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) puts up a shield to protect himself and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) from any unforeseen blowback from the Infinity Stones.

Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) hitches a ride on Iron Patriot's (Don Cheadle) back as the duo follow Rescue (Gwyneth Paltrow) into battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army.

Better late than never, right? As the resurrected arrive via portals, Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle) make their entrance with Giant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). There's no dialogue, which makes sense considering Cap's (Chris Evans) next line, but it probably would've been cool to get an "Oh yeah" from Rocket here as a callback to his first appearance.

In one of the film's most pivotal moments, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) takes Captain America (Chris Evans) to 1970 to steal an earlier version of the Space Stone and grab some more Pym Particles, which come back into play at the end of the film.

These are strange times indeed as we find out what's become of the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in the five-year time jump as he's now combined Banner and the Green Goliath to become the best of both worlds.

After decimating the Avengers Compound, Thanos (Josh Brolin) was at his most confident here as he bided his time while past Nebula (Karen Gillan) fetched the Infinity Stones.

This moment was always inevitable as Thanos (Josh Brolin) unleashed his forces upon the Avengers in the battle to end all battles.

After an absolute rollercoaster of a character arc, the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) was at full strength as he squared off against Thanos (Josh Brolin) with the combined might of Mjolnir and Stormbreaker.

The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle), and Giant-Man (Paul Rudd) make their grand entrance on the battlefield and prepare for war.

One of the most stunning shots in the entire film and perhaps, in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as the three flagship Avengers - Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) - step onto the battlefield to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin) once and for all.

"You could not live with your own failure, and where did that bring you? Back to me." - Josh Brolin has been incredible Thanos and will be sorely missed as the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves onto a new chapter of storytelling.

"Whatever it takes." - After getting an inspirational talk from Captain America (Chris Evans), Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and the living Avengers gear up for their trip through the Quantum Realm.

"Avengers Assemble!" - Enough said. We've been waiting a decade to hear that line and Chris Evans absolutely delivered. His fellow founding Avengers - Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) - can also be seen in the shot, which makes the moment even more monumental.

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) makes the ultimate sacrifice to finally put an end to Thanos' (Josh Brolin) conquest.

Goddamn. (What is Spider-Man swinging from?)

A-Force assembled. Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Rescue (Gwyneth Paltrow), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) all come together to help Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) deliver the Nano Gauntlet to Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).

The five years have been especially rough on Ronin (Jeremy Renner), who lost his entire family at the beginning of the film, and then, the film isn't any kinder to him as he also ends up losing his best friend, Nat (Scarlett Johansson).

Rescue (Gwyneth Paltrow), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), and Shuri (Letitia Wright) prepare for the fight of their lives.

Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) arrives with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), Miek, and all the remaining Asgardians to defend their home.

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) makes a cool entrance in an Audi E-Tron GT to make amends with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and give him back his shield. Plus, he also solves the whole time travel problem.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

@PlusUltra - I have been watching the updates on the box office for Endgame daily and 5 million seems like a big jump to me although I guess it is possible.

@rkshuttleworth - Those sites don't update the International numbers until Sundays, which is why movie box offices seem to just jump up out of nowhere

@rkshuttleworth - Well in the article it says their accounting team basically found an extra $2 million while reconciling box office earnings, and they waited to announce it until comic con. So basically they gave themselves the perfect timing!
