"There was an idea - Stark knows this - called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more... to see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could."

Following a storied run that resulted in a final finish at the top of the box office record books, Marvel Studios' magnum opus, Avengers: Endgame, has finally arrived on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.

The 4K Ultra HD version of the Russo Brothers-directed blockbuster is an absolute must-buy with arguably some of the best visuals and audio we've ever seen released on home video from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film also comes packed to the brim with special features, including exclusive featurettes spotlighting a number of the original Avengers.

It is currently available in a Cinematic Universe Edition, a Best Buy-Exclusive Steelbook and a Target-Exclusive version. All four Avengers films can also be purchased together as part of a Best Buy-Exclusive 4-Movie Steelbook Collection.

Got mine yesterday. This really should have been split into 2 movies imo. There were 3 or 4 places where it seemed things had not been properly introduced and the flow was choppy. Still it was enjoyable.

@LongMayHeReign - depends on how much you're willing to pay. an Infinity Saga set no doubt would be incredibly awesome, and also probably stupidly expensive.

@LongMayHeReign - Yah man, I was twitching all day after I bought the Endgame steelbook at Best Buy! That 4 movie set is SEXY! BUT, I want that saga set, even though I have all 22, including the OG Avengers collector box from Best Buy. THAT is still greatness...the light up big box, with the 3d pose on the front!!!!!

@OmegaDaGrodd - AOU is a weird movie: it's kind of important in the MCU as a whole in setting up Civil War and the creation of the Vision, and also from a thematic standpoint because it plays on Tony's fears that ultimately become true later in IW, buuuuut if you just take the Avengers movies by themselves, it's just kind of...there. there's probably more of a continuity between Avengers 1 and IW than AoU and IW. buuuut then again this is a universe so it does have its place. definitely a product of Phase 2's growing pains that lead us to the amazing Phase 3.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 8/13/2019, 6:08 PM
@Spidey91 - I think if age of Ultron came before the avengers 1 it'd be better received. I think it's the better movie but it definitely retreads some of the things that happened in the avengers.

But looking back it's the most important movie in the MCU. It sets up every other movie except for Ant-Man and the wasp.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 8/13/2019, 6:30 PM
@Spidey91 -

I think it's interesting you note Avengers 1 and IW have more that continuity because that's exactly how I feel about AoU and Endgame. Endgame almost acts like IW was a traumatic post credit scene and just jumps into playing on all the character stuff AoU planted.

I think AoU is definitely the messiest Avengers movie, but it's also the one (until Endgame) that was most about the characters and what made them tick. I think AoU does shit on a thematic level that is so crazy it's a shame people don't really notice it as much in the midst of how loud and clunky and overindulgent it gets at times. I think it's easily one of the best CBMs ever made (which Avengers movies kinda are by default), but I also think it's the one where one's mileage will VARY like no other

lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 8/13/2019, 6:43 PM
@Spidey91 - Well like you said AoU sets up Civil War and Ragnarok, and in turn those two movies are incredibly important to Infinity War

It also sets up Scarlett Witch and Vision, also super important to Infinity War. Both the Scotland and Wakanda fights have direct connections to AoU because of the Mind Stone

And then Endgame only reinforces the importance of AoU, with callbacks to "Suit of Armor around the world", "we'll lose... we'll do that together too" and the time heist needing to get Loki's scepter (only shown containing the Mind Stone in AoU)

And then there's the vision Scarlett Witch puts in Tony's head

Mark45
Mark45 - 8/14/2019, 12:49 AM
@MyCoolYoung - AOU is extremely important and not only for the plot, but for the characters. Without AOU, we would barely believe these characters are friends, never mind a family. We see them meet in Avengers, but it’s only in AOU that we see them interact with each other for long enough to know and act on each others traits and relationships. The after party and the farm sequences are the only reason that the breakup in civil war, and following reunion in endgame, work at all.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 8/14/2019, 6:23 AM
@Mark45 - totally agree. Whedon did a whole lot with these characters In that movie. People don't like it because of Ultron but even Ultron was right about them
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 8/14/2019, 6:35 AM

How could I have forgotten about this scene from AoU in my last comment, and how it definitely paid off in Endgame?

lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 8/14/2019, 7:57 AM
I also forgot about Hawkeye's family, first introduced and only ever seen in AoU up to that point, was the first freaking scene of Endgame and the character's whole motivation
