AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Has Topped Fandango's Most Anticipated Summer Movie Survey

This summer is jam-packed with blockbuster movies, including Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, and Solo: A Star Wars Story to name but a few. But which films are fans most excited to see this season?..

Digital movie network Fandango, which is responsible a large majority of online ticket sales for movies, has revealed its annual list of most anticipated films. More than 4,500 moviegoers participated in a survey to determine this year’s most anticipated summer blockbuster, and the results probably won’t surprise you.

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War topped the list as this year’s most anticipated summer blockbuster. For those who have been keeping a tally on pre-sale tickets, this isn’t a shocker. Avengers: Infinity War needed only six hours to break Fandango’s record for best-selling superhero movie in the first 24 hours of pre-sales, previously held by Marvel’s Black Panther. Additionally, Fandango previously revealed that Avengers: Infinity War was selling twice as many tickets as Black Panther and is actually selling more tickets than the previous seven MCU movies combined. It was revealed today that the film is closing in on overall pre-sale ticket records held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi with more than $50 million worth of advance tickets sold. So, again, the fact that it’s the most anticipated summer blockbuster of 2018 isn’t a surprise.

What is a surprise is that the second most anticipated movie this summer isn’t Solo: A Star Wars Story, but rather Fox’s Deadpool. This probably doesn’t sit too well with Disney, but it’s not unexpected given the skepticism surrounding the upcoming spinoff. Rounding out the top five most anticipated summer blockbusters is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Incredibles 2, respectively.

Fandango’s survey also included poll questions on most anticipated summer family film, fan favorite actress and actor, most anticipated live-action comedy, and the fan pick for this year’s summer sleeper. Check out all of the results below.

Also, how on earth is Ant-Man and the Wasp ranked below Ocean's 8, Mamma Mia and Sicario?

@Pantherpool - Or more exactly, why are Ocean's 8 and Mamma Mia ranked over anything, really. Glad Zazie is first rising female star, I saw her on Seth Myers with her long braided hair and she looked stunning. Really funny too. After Tiffany Haddish, I think it's her time to shine.

I’m honestly anticipating Sicario over Ant-Man and the Wasp....🤷🏼‍♂️

I mean...just look at that. And the first movie might’ve been my favorite movie of 2015.

@regularmovieguy - So excited for the sequel, Benicio del Toro just owned that role. The first film was in my top 5 list for 2015.

@regularmovieguy - I loved the first one but it's hard to imagine that it's more anticipated than a comic book film and one that's not coming long after. Then again, nothing is as surprising as Ocean's 8 and Mamma Mia ranked above these two movies and Mission Impossible.

@Pantherpool - because there's A HUGE general audience that isn't into every superhero movie that comes out. Mainly women. I personally won't see Mama Mia or Oceans 8 but the women will show up in droves with their gfs.

Personally I'm way more excited for Sicario than Ant Man... It just doesn't look great to me at all.

And some people are saying Deadpool 2 will fail. Fools...

The films from the top 10 list i'm most looking forward to:

Avengers: Infinity War
Mission: Impossible – Fallout
Deadpool 2
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Sicario: Day of the Soldado
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Solo: A Star Wars Story

ThorArms
ThorArms - 4/19/2018, 5:31 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - it most certainly will not fail. My only concern is if the quality will actually be as good as the first.
Asturgis
Asturgis - 4/19/2018, 11:25 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - Don't joke about that too much. The DCEU might be a shitshow, and I have little confidence in who will direct Birds of Prey, but the characters themselves are top notch. There have been eras in which Birds of Prey was the best DC book on the shelves.

Watch them screw that one up as well even though it could be really good.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Good looking list. I mostly agree... except i have The Incredibles 2 as my #2 most anticipated and switch Deadpool 2 and Antman and Wasp

I’m going to see it but I don’t think it’s going to do huge numbers. I can already tell Anne Hathaway is going to be the standout.
