AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Hi-Res Concept Art Finally Gives Spider-Man A Black Costume In The MCU

Heading into Avengers: Infinity War, it's fair to say that most of us expected to see Peter Parker get his black, alien costume from the comics. That didn't happen but Marvel did consider a similar design.

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker will don what appears to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. issue stealth suit, presumably to hide the fact he's a superhero from his friends as he travels the globe battling Mysterio. The wall-crawler's "classic" Stark issue costume will also be undergoing some changes as the traditional blue is switched for an eye-catching black.

However, some new Avengers: Infinity War concept art reveals that Marvel Studios very nearly gave the hero a black costume in the epic superhero ensemble! In fact, a lot of different designs were considered for his new "Iron Spider" duds and a few of them even look like they've been lifted straight out of the comic books.

While many fans were hopeful that Peter's journey into outer space would lead to him meeting the alien symbiote, it seems the release of Venom may have put an end to that idea before it even began. However, the black suit here would have looked very cool on screen! So, to take a look, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below.

Clearly inspired by the Iron Spider suit from the comic books, it would have been great seeing this on the big screen even if the patterned mask with a mostly plain bodysuit is a tad jarring.

Two completely different takes on Spider-Man's classic outfit, the idea here was clearly to put the spider logo front and centre, something the version we got also does with a little more subtlety.

A black and red costume for Spider-Man is something Marvel Studios has clearly been mulling over for a while now if this concept art is any indication and it's easy to see why: it looks spectacular!

Two variations of what ultimately ended up on screen, the Iron Spider suit was loved by some fans and loathed by others. Based on what we've seen from Far From Home, it won't be making a return.

Another suit which takes its inspiration from the Iron Spider from the comics, it would have been amazing getting to see this on screen and the gold eyes, in particular, work really well here.

It seems as if Marvel Studios at one time considered keeping Spidey in the Stark suit because he can be seen here battling Outriders with a webbed up Doctor Strange below. What's that all about?

A slightly different take on the regular red and blue costume, it's not surprising that Marvel considered redesigning it for Avengers: Infinity War. Just think about how many action figures are sold!

Aside from the fact that the webbing is a little closer together, this is pretty much identical to the suit we'll see in Far From Home so something about this clearly struck a chord with Kevin Feige.

As promised, here's that black suit. This was clearly an Iron Spider suit but also meant to pay homage to the black alien costume Peter Parker discovered during the Secret Wars storyline.

The final version of what ended up on the big screen in Avengers: Infinity War, the detail here is mind-blowing and those four extra arms are very cool. Here's hoping they return down the line.

That piece with Strange is OBVIOUSLY an alt version of the New York battle where Maw wraps Strange in metal bars.

I'm sure the artist was given a basic concept, which originally featured the Outriders -- the script wasn't done at that point.

I still cannot help but wonder if Marvel was going to have Spidey obtain the black suit in space during infinity war and introduce venom in his next solo outing.

@Manmarvel - they’ll give us the classic black and white suit but it won’t be a symbiote, it’ll probably be nanotech and Shuri will probably develop/design it.

I still like what we got. The only thing I'd change would be the shoulders. They looked weird.

Can't anyone scan these images in a more HD-er form? I wanna save some of them in my gallery but they're not so fun to look at like this.

Sigh...

Nitpick on the Iron Spider suit...I DON'T like it. Never had, even since it debuted in the comics, I always found it to be a huge eye sore when it came to Spider-Man costumes. I know there is worst than that...but even Amazing BAGMAN looked more appealing.

JUST ME! Even in the movie, I'm glad they were able to pull of the suit. It just still comes across as bland to me. Like a bad Marvel action figure line up that is trying to sell on Iron Man colors. I mean that's the point but....STILL! Never liked it. Maybe it's my acquired taste but I always preferred Spider-Man colors to be vibrant.

With all the idiots calling him Iron-Boy there was no way Marvel was making the suit just Red and Gold.

@JustAChillFan - considering how much he relies on stark tech even above his own powers, im genuinely surprised they didnt just call him iron boy. So why not color too?
