AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Hi-Res Concept Art Focuses On Thanos Taking Down Thor And Loki In The Movie's Opening

Avengers: Infinity War kicked off with the Mad Titan attacking the God of Thunder, taking down The Hulk, and murdering Loki. Now, some new hi-res concept art puts the spotlight on that sequence...

Marvel Studios wanted to make it clear from the very start that the stakes in Avengers: Infinity War were higher than in any of their other movies, hence why we witnessed Thanos not only effortlessly defeating The Hulk but also choking Loki to death. It was one heck of a way to kick things off and a series of moments fans are still reeling from.

Now, some new hi-res concept art from the movie has surfaced and this focuses not only on the Mad Titan's attack but also more alternate designs for the villain's appearance here.

As well as some truly breathtaking pieces of keyframe concept art depicting Thanos vs. Thor and Loki, it's pretty mind-blowing to see just how different he could have ended up looking on the big screen. So, to check out this awesome batch of hi-res artwork, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below for the full gallery.

As Thor battles Proxima Midnight and Ebony Maw, Thanos chokes out Loki as he stands among the ruins of the God of Thunder's ship (you can see a fallen Hulk at his feet as well).

In this very atmospheric piece of artwork, the triumphant Mad Titan stalks through the burning remains of Thor's ship after wiping out half of the Asgardians (the others fled with Valkyrie).

Here, some minions who look an awful lot like The Other disrobe Thanos of his armour as Thor watches on. That may sound a little dodgy but he no longer needs it now he has the Infinity Stones.

Loki kneels before the might of the Mad Titan here and her certainly makes for an imposing figure. In fact, no one in Avengers: Infinity War was really able to slow him in his tracks.

Various pieces of artwork depicting Thanos getting his hands on what used to be the Tesseract, it's hard not to wonder if Surtur would have been powerful enough to destroy it.

Here, Thanos can be seen walking back toward Sanctuary II but in the movie, he obviously used the power of the Space Stone to transport himself and the Black Order to safety.

We've already brought you some alternate takes on the Mad Titan but below you'll find another batch showcasing various armour designs and even some nifty looking uniforms...

Milking this concept art book aren’t you, Josh? How many articles does this make?

@Gmoney84 - took the words right out of my mouth!

There really was only one problem i found with Infinity war, but its very minor. I didn't have a problem killing off Heidall that fast in the movie, but they should have somehow shown how difficult that was. Heimdall was a certified bada$$. It would have made Thanos and crew look even more formidable if they had acknowledged how much of a fight Heimdall actually put up.

@natebest @joshwilding

Can we please stop with the articles on the concept art from this book?

I LOVE Infinity War and we get it, the book has some amazing art, These articles are spam at this point. One article with a book review and all the photos would have been better.

I'm sure many readers of the site would agree.

@Typobutcorrect - you do know what spam is right? Don't click on the article if you don't want to read it...its really not that hard

@four20smoke - I want to see the art, but it would make much more sense to have it all in one article instead of 10+ articles.

How about you calm your tits champ. It ain't that serious.

@Typobutcorrect - i dont think i got that excited big guy. Ur the one writing to the owner and editor. I was just simply commenting.

From my point of view, the separate articles are fine with the different subjects being discussed in each. My only point was that if you care so much to bitch about it just dont go into the article in the first place. Plenty have learned that lesson as the comment section is getting smaller and smaller...if you want change, your best option is to boycott altogether.

@Typobutcorrect - I don't think you fully understand what "spam" is. You're getting one or two concept art posts a day spread hours apart with a number of other news stories and articles spread between them for you to enjoy. Putting 300+ pieces of hi-res artwork in one article isn't practical for a number of reasons, hence why those Fantastic Beasts photos have also been spread out. Each one of these posts is about a different character or moment so it's not like you've seen five articles just about Iron Man!

@PantherKing - oohh my gawwd only if Taika had the chance to explore Midgard serpent. These are what the Thor movies should’ve always been. Going all the way with the mytho creatures.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but seeing those three images of thanos in his tunic make me wish they had kept the bright glowing eyes in Thanos design.

I found that sometimes his "human eyes" fell into the uncanny valley in some scenes. Plus I just think the glowing eyes look great here with his redesign in these concept art picture.

Does anyone know how much of Asgard's population was left/on the ship at the end of Ragnarok? I mean... It wasn't half after what Hela did, right?

Always wondered. Because I don't like the idea that the Asgardians got chopped in half twice.
XelCorp
XelCorp - 11/10/2018, 6:08 AM
@Kurne - then they get chopped again because of the snap? Or they all get erased because there’s only so very few of them now after already getting chopped?...

Really would have liked to have seen Thanos an his crew board the ship ala Star Wars New Hope style with Thor, Hulk, Heimdell, Loki, Valkyrie, Korg and a few warriors bracing to get it on and then watch how it all went down.

I wish they’d stuck with the bright eyes he originally had, it seems more haunting to me

We got so many new combinations of heroes and villians in this movie but there were so many more combinations. Thor vs the Black order would have been fun.
