AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Is Now Being Pushed For Consideration In 11 Academy Award Categories

We knew that Disney was campaigning for Avengers: Infinity War to be nominated for Best Visual Effects, but 10 additional categories have now been added to the studio's "For Your Consideration" website...

While Ryan Coogler's Black Panther remains Disney/Marvel's best hope for an Academy Award nomination in one of the major categories, it looks like the Mouse House is also pushing hard for some recognition for Joe and Anthony Russo's epic Avengers: Infinity War.

As well as Best Visual Effects, which we already knew about, an additional 10 categories have been included for the film over at Disney's For Your Consideration website.

Best Director
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Film Editing
Best Cinematography
Best Production Design
Best Costume Design
Best Makeup & Hairstyling
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing
Best Original Score

Infinity War does have a decent shot at getting nominated in one of the technical categories, but Best Director and Adapted Screenplay are probably long-shots.

The Academy has been known to surprise (on very rare occasions), but if any love is to be shown to a superhero movie this year it'll almost certainly be Black Panther.

Cool. They could've shown Brolin some love too though.

Director and Adapted Screenplay are most certainly long shots.

@TheRealTomServo - They are, which is a shame because I feel like it's definitely worthy of a nomination for either one

@TheRealTomServo - only one theyre gonna get are the visuals. Honestly anyone who thinks otherwise doesnt get what the academy's looking for.

@BlindWedjat - except it costs money just to get nominated.

@Origame - Disney has the money and I'm sure they can allocate these expenses under the promotional category.

@DukeTogo13 - not after the fox merger. Movies designed to be oscar winners are usually expected to be a loss in revenue because of this.

Go ahead and sweep the Oscars and never show up to get the trophies.

Brolin and Saldana deserve a nomination too. Give them at least a chance.
