AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Netflix Description Reportedly Updated After Thanos Labeled A "Sociopath"

Is Thanos a sociopath? Is he a psychopath? After fans took issue with how Netflix described the Mad Titan in their Avengers: Infinity War listing, the streaming service has removed the label.

The debate over whether Thanos was justified in his actions in Avengers: Infinity War has been going on for months, highlighted by the existence of the "Thanos Did Nothing Wong" subreddit. It is presumably these believers that took issue with Netflix's description of Avengers: Infinity War, labeling the Mad Titan as a "sociopath."

The original description for the blockbuster film on Netflix read: "Superheroes amass to stop intergalactic sociopath Thanos from acquiring a full set of Infinity Stones and wiping out half of all life in the universe."

Fans took issue with this description, arguing that it didn't necessarily describe Thanos fairly or accurately. The arguments against Thanos's description mainly stem from the clinical definition of the word "sociopath" and the similar traits one may share with a "psychopath."

Look, I'm not a licensed professional and neither are the people working at Netflix which is why they presumably changed the description of Avengers: Infinity War to remove the label.

According to Comicbook.com, the description of Avengers: Infinity War on Netflix now reads: "Invader. Annihilator. So-called savior. As Thanos moves ever closer to omnipotence, the fate of the universe rests with the Avengers." It doesn't appear that the update has rolled out for everyone as the listing on my computer still calls him an "intergalactic sociopath," but it looks like a change is coming.

According to WebMD, the most official unofficial medical site in the universe where I self-diagnose all my problems, doctors don't really diagnose people as either psychopaths or sociopaths and instead use the term "antisocial personality disorder." Even directors Joe and Anthony Russo had previously called Thanos "a holy warrior" and described him as "noble."

Either way, labeling him doesn't change the fact that half the universe has been wiped from existence because of his actions. And now we have Avengers: Endgame to look forward to.

Experience the next chapter in the MCU when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.

Makes sense.

think people throw that word around a lot and have no real idea what it means lol.

Also watched this 2 more times since it was released on Netflix. What a god damn amazing film.

@Menks123 - Yeah it's annoying. I've been called (kinda jokingly) a sociopath by my own family! This is because I seemingly move on from failed relationships unscathed, drink my coffee black, and always land on my feet. And because I have a pragmatic way of thinking and choose not to look at things from an emotional perspective. I consider my view to be eh, more effective to being successful in life. But then again, Anakin viewed the Jedi as evil so what do I know.

I do think people throw around these words too loosely and should leave it to the professionals to diagnose

@Vigor - I catch the same crap. I argued that Thanos is not “evil” he is just saving the universe his way. That made it even worse for me...😎

Ok, come on. This is getting too far. Thanos murdered half the universe. With no sign of any sort of universal resource issue. Sure, he might not necessarily fit the textbook definition of sociopath or psychopath, were still arguing that he was justified? Come on. He killed people. Both bad and good. Even worse than what any villain before him in this universe was even planning. Hes the bad guy people.

@Origame - Thank you!!! I had always assumed the Thanos Did Nothing Wrong camp was basically a big joke everyone was in on, but if people genuinely start to think Thanos did the right thing (it wouldn't even WORK as double the people means double the people to distribute and manufacture resources), then Jesus [frick]ing Christ.
