AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Paul Bettany Reveals Why He Loved How The Vision's Story Wrapped Up

It's been a good month or so for Paul Bettany because the actor not only had a starring role in Avengers: Infinity War as The Vision but also showed up as the main villain in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Based on what happened in the former, it appears as if the android's story arc has reached its end and while it's possible that the character could return in a different form, that's not clear right now.

After all, he died twice first at the hands of the Scarlet Witch and then again when Thanos used the Time Stone to bring him back and tore the Mind Stone from his head, leaving him a greyed out shell.

Asked during a recent interview which of his deaths was his favourite, he replied: "Ooooh, I don’t know. I think that being murdered by the love of your life [Scarlet Witch] because you’re asking them to is pretty moving stuff that they wrote for us." He's clearly happy with how things ended for The Vision then but there's a theory going around that he could actually return during Avengers 4

That points to the android coming back as a greyed out version of himself with no emotions, similar to what happened in a West Coast Avengers story arc many years ago. What do you think could happen?

@Kevwebsz - I think we'll get the white(ish) version of Vision from the comics as a way to please those who don't like the multi-colored version. The movie version will probably be a light gray.

Ehhh like i said many times, i still believe that he's been heavily underutilised.
Something that's quite noticeable especially when you do an MCU marathon.
The jump between AoU/CW, the lack of interaction between him and Tony...
There's so much to tell and develope...

@Doomsday8888 - I still hate that he was written out at the beginning of CW and then weaken at the entirety of IW.

Yeah same, his biggest villain is the plot itself, cause shit never does him any favors! :P

Is it me or does the headline suggest Vision isn’t in A4?

But yes, very romantic to be killed by the love of your life

Wish he could've been given a chance to fight Thanos.

@PINOYFAN - avengers 4 he will

@Vigor - No, I mean giving him a chance to fight for his life. I don't know why DS didn't use his gem to fight Thanos but it'll be interesting to see someone fight him with a gem.

Too bad Thanos had to come along and [frick] that all up by bringing him back to life just to kill him again.

I think we'll be getting this version of Vision in future installments (not necessarily Avengers 4):

I love how Vision says "We are out of time".

Of course he means that there is no more time to try and remove the stone without destroying him irreparably and that Wanda must destroy the stone herself before Thanos gets it, but...

They are actually and literally out of time. Since Thanos reverses time, these events no longer happen. Wanda no longer destroys the Mind Stone. Those moments exist outside of the time-line.

I also love how the line "I just feel you" is set up in the first act and repeated here.

Also, did anybody notice that they were standing outside of a Kebab shop, in Edingborough?

A Kebab, in Scotland, primarily means a Doner Kebab, which is British for Shawarma!

@GwenLantern - As an Englishman I have to correct you... Doner Kebab is definitely not 'British for Shawarma'. They're similar, but not the same. Doner is Turkish, while Shawarma is middle eastern. In the same way Thai curry and Chinese curry aren't the same.

I don't get why people think he will return as a grayed out version? When we actually have a death that works emotionally on all levels, why would you want to undo that by bringing the character back...?
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 6/2/2018, 2:51 AM
@Bokis - Because he was underutelized and a bullshit premature death shouldn't be the end of a character's story if you have any kind of respect for the actual character at all.
Vigor
Vigor - 6/2/2018, 3:38 AM
@Bokis - I think killing his personality can be just as impactful as killing the character. If vision came back emotion less, like an Empiricism Droid from star wars... I hope he is at least more effective on the battlefield
StormXmen123
StormXmen123 - 6/2/2018, 3:58 AM
@Bokis - he will come back as the grey version, however there will be consequences. He will likley be an emotionless shell or his personality is rebooted; either way the Vision we knew will be dead.

Wakanada is the land of vibrant up manipulation, they will be able to reconstruct Visions body (not forgetting Stark still lives and can help). His body is still a sophisticated machine that they can use in a fight.
PINOYFAN
PINOYFAN - 6/2/2018, 4:01 AM
@Bokis - Because bringing him back as an emotionless android is gonna be more emotional than death because death is not the only tragic thing that can happen and definitely not the worst that can happen than especially in this movies.

@ScionStorm - "PREACH!" - Quicksilver

(Though, I actually disagree with your reasoning.)
CplHicks
CplHicks - 6/2/2018, 6:06 AM
@PINOYFAN - I don't see Bettany wanting to stick around as an emotionless robot. It's not challenging for an actor. Remember Renner hating being Loki's minion in A1? That was just one movie. They won't tell Bettany "Ok, from here on out..." They won't do that to him. Especially when they have 10 other characters to pick a new team of 6, 7 members from. They can let him bow out now.
