AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Pass $2 Billion At The Worldwide Box Office In The Next 48 Hours

There was some doubt that the latest Marvel movie would be able to reach the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office but it's now been confirmed; Avengers: Infinity War is just days away from that!

Avengers: Infinity War didn't quite manage to crack $2 billion at the worldwide box office this weekend but there's still plenty of good news for Marvel Studios today. However, before we get to that, here's the kicker - had the epic ensemble reached that benchmark today, it would have become the fastest release in history to do so beating Avatar and securing a record which would put it in the history books.

On the plus side, the Russo Brothers helmed release will surpass $2 billion in the next 48 hours or so and we'll find out when exactly it will have managed to do that by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

As of right now, Avengers: Infinity War has earned $1.3 billion internationally and $654.7 million domestically for a $1.99 billion global cume. When the Marvel movie hits $2 billion, it will become only the fourth release ever to do that which is an incredible feat and one which cements the MCU as the franchise to beat. It will be interesting next year seeing whether Avengers 4 manages to do the same.

Unbelievable! Who would've thought that after 10 years of Marvel movies, we would see a superhero movie making 2 billion. Superhero fatigue? I think not…

I did not think they would do it, but good for them. They deserve it! They are one of the few franchises that gives its fans what the fans want and they deserve to reap the rewards. They have had a tremendous track record in casting actors appropriately in their respective roles, taking chances, and taking the time to plan out what they want to do. Other studios have been trying to copy this success, but so far only Marvel has done what was needed to be successful.

Also if Marvel lets it ride through the AM & W release, it could top The Force Awakens.

@ShellHead - Topping Force Awakens will be pretty tough for it at this point. It needs about 70m more and that might be a little difficult for it.

If they re-release the film into theaters before Avengers 4, it might top it in the future.

@MrDandy - if it makes 5 million a day worldwide, it can make it by July. China extending the release another 30 days will help with this.

@ShellHead - Let us all step out today and watch it again. Let's push it through boys and girls, hooah!

@ShellHead - Its not totally up to them. Theaters contract for their screens far in advance and have little discretion during peak months. The bigger venues (5+ screens) usually do try to keep at least one screen free of a contract so if you are the best option at that time you can hang on. The thing is its hard to imagine IW being the best option for that 1 free screen after Incredibles hits. As always, YMMV.

Yeah, but after the Thanos-snap, it's only $1Billion.

The total box office run has to end on an even number or I don't think thanos would like that.
