Who Lives & Who Dies in Avengers Infinity War/Avengers 4....In My Opinion.

We have to lose someone in this epic battle against Thanos. Whether it's one or multiple of our heroes, someone is going to meet Mistress Death. I'm here to tell you my thoughts on who lives and who dies.

Who Lives and Who Dies in the upcoming Marvel Epic the Avengers Infinity War movie. I want to speculate and try and figure out based off of popularity, contracts, and what characters would make sense to kill in the upcoming Avengers movies. We all know the inevitably that we are going to lose some of our main heroes.

If you would rather watch and listen check me out on youtube.
If you prefer to read keep scrolling and we'll talk.

To start things off we can rule out those who are most likely safe from death. The heroes that are safe from dying would most likely be Spiderman, Antman, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and the Winter Soldier. They’re all new and all have been very well received. Most of these heroes also already have sequels planned taking place after the Avengers titles and honestly I just don't see any of these characters dying. We also know Winter Soldier has several more contracts left.

Scarlet Witch and Vision. Here I think Scarlet Witch is too powerful to be killed just yet. I really like the character and honestly I think we’ll see more of her. We've really only scratched the surface of how much power she has in Civil War and ther are so many posibilities for this character. We may never get the No More Mutants storyline from the comics, but if Marvel is smart they figure out a great arc for her. Now Vision on the other hand I feel will very likely meet Death so that the plot can allow for Thanos to get his hands on the Mind Gem for his Infinity Gauntlet. Now the great thing about Vision in this movie is that he was brought to be from the Mind Gem that rests in his forehead, so when Thanos is eventually defeated by our heroes they can possibly bring Vision back by returning the Mind Gem back to him somehow. That’s a huge possibility, and I love how powerful the character is. I also think we all never want to lose "Jarvis" and almost everyone is waiting for a full blown Vision and Scarlet Witch relationship. Even with all this and whether we get him back in the future, I definitely think we will see the death of Vision.

Falcon as someone who’s still fairly new I think is in the clear from death. Supposedly he leaked in an interview that he’s not dying though he said he only read five pages. I wouldn’t say that’s confirmation but in general I think he’s growing as a character, especially after Civil War and I would hate for Marvel to stop that short. I also feel that Falcon is growing as a hero and with his skills as we get to see a lot more action from him in Civil War, along with his pet falcon. I also believe he would be the most likely candidate for taking the mantle of Captain America. He and Cap view what being a hero is in the same light and he is the sort of protect and serve soldier but for the people, now that he fights with the Avengers and not the military. Bucky, or at least this version of the MCU doesn’t feel like the kind of guy that would take up the “Hero Type” mantle and as much as he would mourn Caps death if he died I don’t feel he would take that title of Captain America. He definitely wouldn’t if Cap retired, they’d prob go chill and hang out on some beach I don’t know. Falcon is great though and I’d love to see him grow and help future Avengers.

Freakin Guardians of the Galaxy. As these characters are fairly new but they are not all safe from Death. James Gun said himself that the roster will change to allow more characters like Adam Warlock, and who knows maybe my buddy Nova to come on board. I will say that I think there’s only 2 possible characters that might die and that’s Drax and Mantis. It’s fair to say that Starlord and Gamora are safe as they are the leaders of the group. Rocket and Groot are such a powerhouse team and being a package deal as you really can’t have one without the other I gotta say I feel their safe. Mantis is so new however I don’t think anyone would be angry or upset if she gets killed off. I like the character but with how little we've seen of her whether she lives or dies wouldn't really matter for most. Now that could be an argument as to why she won’t die, because at the moment people wouldn’t really have an emotional connection and the death of her character wouldn’t really mean anything to the audience. Now as for Drax I feel we will see the end of the Destroyer. As much as I absolutely love Drax and Dave Butista has been an absolute pleasure to watch in this role, Drax was created by Thanos’s father and grandfather to avenge his families death and Kill Thanos. The death of Thanos is his true mission. I think he’ll either die in the final moments of defeating Thanos or close to it. He deserves a death by glorious battle and he deserves to finally be with his family. I don’t want it but I think we’ll have to say goodbye to Drax.

Now we’re down to the original crew, Iron Man & War Machine, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

Black Widow in my opinion is safe. There's already been supposed confirmation that there will in fact be a Black Widow movie. There hasn't been any date of release it clearly won't be until after these Avengers movies so if this is in fact true we will see more of Natasha. She’s also at the moment one of two female heroes and honestly one of the best characters the MCU. I feel like her journey in one way or another will continue after the Avengers. Now as for Hawkeye, this is 50/50. On one hand I think it’s too easy to think “oh let’s kill the human with no super powers." I think that’s too easy and a cop out. Now there is an argument to keep him alive as in the comics, whether it be Age of Ultron or Old Man Logan he’s usually one of the last remaining heroes alive. He’s definitely a survivor. On the other hand in Avengers Age of Ultron we got to see a deeper level of Hawkeye including his wife and kids, and killing him would definitely sink a lot of hearts. So I have to say I don’t think he’s going to die, but he’s not safe either.

War Machine needs to be safe. Honestly I don’t think we’ve gotten a true look at War Machine. We got a tiny glimpse in Iron Man 2 in the short lived final battle, but we haven't gotten a true War Machine just yet. He also came so close to death in Civil War that it would make no since to kill him off the very next time we see him in Infinity War. Please Marvel, don’t drop War Machine just yet as there’s so much you haven’t done with this character yet. Hopefully I'm not wrong but I’m pretty confident he won’t die in the upcoming movies.

Hulk as well I think is absolutely safe. People are loving this new Hulk and Mark Ruffalo has been an incredible Bruce Banner. The new Bruce that we have interacts amazing with the rest of the cast and it also helps that the Hulk is almost impossible to kill anyway and We haven’t had him for long. Even though we may never get a Hulk solo movie, that gives me more the reason to believe we'll see him in future movies side by side future heroes. I definitely think Marvel has more ideas for him.

Lastly we have the original three, and with all their contracts coming to an end I’ll be honest, I think they are all still safe and here’s why. Robert, Evans, and Hemsworth have all had a rejuvenated love for being these characters. And in the past years there was a lot of talk of them all really wanting to move on. I think the MCU always has a place for us to want to see Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor and I think the smartest thing Marvel could do is to sideline the characters so that they can join future movies if need be. Have all future Avengers movies be without the original three, but bring them into other movies from time to time just like Spiderman Homecoming. Tony Stark's presence was felt in Homecoming but it was still very much a solo Spiderman movie. I think the best thing to do is have Iron man and Captain America simply be mentors and have Thor take over as ruler of Asgard. This way you have reasons as to why we never see them and it gives you options to bring them back. Now if one of them absolutely has to die, I think it will be Iron Man or Captain America. Both would ruin our souls, break our hearts, and both would devastate every character in the MCU. If it had to be done it’s one of them.

So there you have it. Our possible Deaths are; Vision, Drax, Mantis, Hawkeye, and very unlikely Iron Man or Captain America.

What do you guys think. Anyone agree, disagree. Please let me know in the comments if you have a good reason as to why a character might die that I didn’t mention. I’d love to hear your theories and talk more about it.

I honestly think a big factor in who lives or who dies will be how confident Marvel is in their younger/upcoming franchises. The 3rd movie in both the Iron Man and Captain America franchises topped 1 billion dollars. If Marvel doesn't think they have other characters that can rake in that type of money sooner or later, Iron Man and Captain America are probably going to survive because Marvel needs those 2-3 franchises that make the BIG money.

@rfl22 - I think marvel has shown they can be successfull with 90% of their characters. So maybe they wont need the original avengers anymore

@rfl22 - and @malsemarcel Really good points. It can come down to faith in their next franchises.

@malsemarcel - 1 billion dollars successful and just run-of-the-mill successful aren't exactly the same thing. The original Avengers won't be replaced until Marvel is confident their popularity and commercial success can be replaced, regardless of whether or not it makes sense creatively. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and possibly Doctor Strange look like strong contenders to shoulder that responsibility but perhaps Marvel feels differently.

How I would like to see it:
-Thanos kills half of the universe
-Infinity war ends with thanos ruling earth
-A4 some still living heroes come up with some plan
-Stark builds a new vision via his own solar gem
-Iron man sacrifices his life in an act of killing thanos
-Cap sacrfices his life by using the gauntlet to restore all life at expense of his own

@malsemarcel - I really dig this. Does Iron Man come back after Cap sacrifices?

@BOOZER111 - well, maybe I'd swap those two. I want both their sacrifices to be meaningfull. And ofcourse they should go out with some throwback quote to another movie. Cap saying that he finally gets to dance with peggy or something like that
