Have we been witness to the Helicarrier without knowing it?

After reading an article by it got me to thinking about The Avengers trailer...Beware, there are possible spoilers ahead so this is your first SPOILER WARNING!

When I first watched The Avengers trailer I was wondering about two small snippets of footage. There is a few seconds of footage (0.30-0.34) of a helicopter landing in, what looks like, a military base. Nick Fury exits this particular helicopter. It made me wonder if he was just joining the military at a base ready for the impending 'war'? Then I considered that it could be the Trikelion making an appearance? I then thought that what if it was the Helicarrier? I had scoured the stills of those particular scenes to see if the paticular facility was in the air or not but all I could see was water! Articles claiming knowledge of the Helicarrier posted prior had said that it would be hoveing invisibly above the city. I thought it was best to leave my wasteful theorising there.

But an article was posted by DCMARVELFRESHMAN yesterday that claimed to have knowledge of particluar scenes that will appear in the movie. One bit stuck out for me. this is a SPOILER WARNING:

"SPOILER ALERT!! The Helicarrier starts out on the water like a regular aircraft carrier and then the outside fins begin to rotate and then the anti-gravity/turbines fire up and then it slowly rises out the water and begins flying away"

When I saw that (if the scene description proves to be true) the Helicarrier is actually based in the water when not in the air then the Helicarrier could well have been shown to us in The Avengers first official trailer without anybody taking time to notice. It's a theory at best but one that I thought was worth sharing.

This is in no way official news. Just thought I'd share my ramblings!

Feel free to comments as always.

Na mate if you pay close attention to the wall behind Nick Fury when exits the helicopter you clearly see NASA. So its a NASA facility the one they were possibly talking about a few months ago.

I too thought it could have been the NASA facility. Could well be but it's simply a theory chaps. A brainfart if you will.

Not 100% sure, but that is probably just the NASA place still cool article.

We've seen the Helicarrier many times though. Albeit the inside:

There are several shots in all the trailers of a high tech place that they're in, I'm pretty sure that's the Helicarrier.

Still can't wait to get an outside shot of it! :)

Well it could most definitely be the Helicarrier. Just as much as the 'facility' I speak of and the interior superotherside speaks of COULD BE 'the raft'...if its making an appearance.

Nice suggestions otherwise

Its called the Joint Dark Energy Mission Western Division and has the Nasa emblem and the SHEILD emblem on the location name sign that is shown just when Nick Fury's helicopter is about to land and on a wall in a scene with Maria Hill pointing here gun at something, these scenes are from the avengers teaser at the end of CA:TFA

Could be The Raft, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Base, Triskelion (not that much likely, though), or anything else except the Helicarrier, I'd say. I mean, I don't think a Helicarrier will have green areas, cars, and a lot of building structures on its top.
