Kevin Feige Speaks On "Dueling Quicksilvers" In X-MEN: DOFP And THE AVENGERS 2

It seems Marvel doesn't plan on addressing during its Comic-Con panel that both X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Avengers sequel will feature Quicksilver, despite the panels being back-to-back.

While Fox's Comic-Con panel has showcased X-Men: Days of Future Past just moments ago, SuperHeroHype spoke with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige earlier today about Marvel's panel, which is minutes away. When asked if he'll address the X-Men "inbetween-quel" including Quicksilver, despite the character joining The Avengers 2, Feige says, "I can't speak for Fox--I think Fox might do something--but we're not prepared to do anything with that. It's early days for us. We just know that there's enough Quicksilver in the comics and there's a reason that each studio has a right to that character is because he's a certain way in the Avengers comic, he's a certain way in the X-Men comic, and from what I know now, we're treating him as very very distinct different characters." It was rumored yesterday that Marvel would officially announce during its panel that Kick-Ass 2 star Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be joining Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2015, but it doesn't seem likely. Of course, we'll know for sure very soon. Meanwhile, Johnson's Kick-Ass co-star Evan Peters, who's set to play Quicksilver in Days of Future Past, just mentioned during the Fox panel that his incarnation "moves and talks quick and gets impatient." And director Bryan Singer said that the character was always part of his story and exists in the 70's portion of the film.

Still a douche-bag move to use Quicksilver when he knew Joss Whedon was using the character!

I think Marvel will just drop the mutants from The Avengers.

Amazing how a mediocre character like Quicksilver is going to be in two movies while other great characters may very well never make it on screen. Crazy.

I won't blame Whedon, however I will say that it was a complete bad move for him. People are making it seem like as if Singer was waiting at Whedon's bedroom window to steal the character as soon as Whedon thought of the idea! lol

Singer already had plans on expanding the X-Men universe. And the interview was dated before Whedon announced he was going to use Quicksilver. So who's to say Singer wasn't thinking of using the character all this time?

Singer said the character has always been in the script.

Quicksilver also WAS IN X-Men origins.

More like Whedon is the obsessed douchebag who can't let go.

Well he is the son of magneto so that's the most crucial part about his character.

I guarantee Quicksilver was not put in this film because of Whedon, considering the focus of Magneto in First Class, and the desire to bring in young people in the cast, it makes total sense that QS was in the script the entire time, a script being written before Whedon began Avengers 2

This doesn't bother me since we now know FOX's Quicksilver will be in the 70s part of the movie.

It will be interesting to see just how much of Disney's Quicksilver is used. He'll be a villain by the sounds of it...at least at first.

@brazilianbatman

Exactly! I'm sure the outcome will be marvelous on both sides. However they're mutants and I don't care what anyone says they shouldn't be split between studios. Especially if they're not being played by the same actor. I'll have a hard time watching Avengers 2 knowing I've seen the character already.

Plus I strongly agree on the Black Panther film. They bs'd big time with getting that off the ground. I know they'll do him justice though. Just want a great script compassionate actor about the character and for him to appear in Avengers 3! And HE BETTER NOT BE THE ONE TO DIE!!!!!

Quicksilver was in xmen origins? He was the guy growling and tied up? Haha! That proves to be other [frick]ed up continuity the Xmen universe has.

Looking foward to both.

Despite when both studios announced they were using him, we can't really tell when they actually came up with the idea.

Singer keeps saying he had plans for Quicksilver long before he announced it.

Joss Whedon, on the other hand, has been saying he had ideas for Avengers 2 even before the first one, and since apparently Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are a key part of Avengers 2, is it safe to assume they might have been one of them?
Gunslinger
Gunslinger - 7/20/2013, 6:22 PM
Please... Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are more Avengers than mutants. They were a big part of the Avengers, particularly Scarlet Witch. Barely registered as mutants EXCEPT for when they were in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Singer is simply envious and has Diva delusions.

So Singer's Quicksilver is in the 70's, but 1st class was in the 60's so he should be like 10 years old??!

He allready messed it up.

Since Spider-Man and Wolverine are Avengers, why doesn't Marvel have joint rights to them, too?
