THE AVENGERS 2 Story Idea: Kang the Conqueror and the Masters of Evil

Time traveling enemy of Earth's Mightiest Heroes assembles the Masters of Evil....

For my first article, I'll write my spin on what The Avengers 2 could be like.

This idea of mine is far from complete, but I have the basic idea in place.

At the beginning of the film we see "The Other" travel into the future, where he seeks out a man named Nathaniel Richards. "The Other" tells Nathaniel about the threat to his present empire: The Avengers.

"The Other" encourages Richards to use his advanced technology to travel back in time and eliminate the Avengers before they prevent his empire from coming into being. Richards assumes the identity of "Kang", and once he travels back he proceeds to form his own team of super-powered beings. He travels back to the end of "Iron Man 3" and recovers the mutilated body of Aldrich Killian. With the help of "The Other", he revives Killian and makes him his first recruit. Kang creates his own version of Tony Stark's arc reactor, which on one hand keeps the Extremis virus in Killian from causing him to explode, and on the other powers Ten Rings that have different abilities/functions. Kang encourages Killian to actually live up to his claim ("I AM THE MANDARIN!"), and from there they continue recruiting.

They break The Abomination out of "The Vault", and find the surviving villains from Thor: TDW and Captain America: TWS (Malekith or Kurse, Crossbones or Dr. Zola). Kang also persuades two confused, and "gifted", siblings to join his cause as well. Together they proceed to tear The Avengers apart.

Now, I know this is rough, but those are my ideas for now. Considering we're only one film into Phase 2, there's only so much I can go on. Other plot/character elements I had in mind was to have Kang be an Anti-Nick Fury, and have the two siblings (Wanda and Pietro Maximoff) switch sides towards the end, even though their efforts prove futile.

My casting ideas are for everyone who's already established to have the actors who played them come back, and in addition:

Kevin Spacey for Kang:

Alexandra Daddario for Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch:

And Tom Felton for Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver:

So, anyways, I encourage the readers of this piece to help me expand on this plot idea, as well as tell me what they don't like about it.

Mclovin!! Just kidding. Sounds cool. I'd have that Luke guy from DOFP come back just for the sake of a crossover. And the Masters of Evil don't need to ALL be villains we've seen before. Mandarin and Abomination is good enough. Maybe Whiplash. And have everyone else be new (at least to us). Good ideas though. Hope Cap is back in the REAL costume in A2.

I wouldn't be mad if the movie is like this. I'll probably enjoy the hell out of it, but I still think the villian will be magus or Adam warlock.

@eachonman,

;) Thanks. While that would be good for continuity, I don't think Fox would let that happen. Plus, having a recognizable face from an immensely popular series of films based on an outrageously popular series of books wouldn't hurt the sequel's success, you know what I mean? :)

I'd like to see new villains too, however, one of the reasons "The Avengers" worked so well is because all the heroes were established in some way (Hawkeye having the least establishment), so the film wasn't bogged down by too many intros.

I do like the idea of the Enchantress being the opposing force to Thor, and since Executioner is often paired with her, he could come along too ;P. Crossbones was a member in the comics, but his involvement depends on how TWS turns out. Whiplash got blown up at the end of "Iron Man 2", and given Mickey Rourke's relationship with Marvel, it'd be a no go :(. As far as Cap's costume, I've liked them all, so I'm not worried about that.

And again, thanks for the positive feedback :). You got any qualms with the casting, or any story ideas that might add to my little scenario?

And for your consideration:

Katheryn Winnick as Amora the Enchantress

Joe Manganiello as Skurge the Executioner

Originally, I thought Diora Baird would be a good choice for Amora (still wouldn't mind it). I did notice that the pic of Amora I found looks like Amanda Seyfried, lol.

@MrCBM56,

Thanks :)

I'd say Magus or Adam Warlock depends on "GOTG" ;)

I don't want Tom Felton as Quicksilver. He maybe has the right haircolor, but after seeing him in Harry Potter as Malfoy I really can't picture him as QS.

Uh no. If there is anyone who should assemble the Masters of Evil in Avengers 2 it should be the Red Skull. My favorite villain that needs a good return just like Loki got in Avengers 1 and since Baron Zemo has not been introduced yet that might as well be the role he takes. Kang is a big threat by himself and doesnt need the Masters of Evil. Also as for Kilian coming back I am completely afainst that. Bring Ben Kingsley back as the Mandarin and correct the biggest mistake made in the Marvel movie universe.

Something I thought about, the Other tells Loki in Avengers 1 that if the Tesseract is kept from them, there will be nowhere that they can't find him. Well, the Tesseract was kept from them. So thatd be a good way to bring back Loki in A2 or A3

@JasonBourne,

Thanks man. I'll be on the lookout for that editorial. ;)

@vandinejd,

I'd love for the Red Skull to lead the Masters of Evil, especially since he's the Anti-Cap. But Kang would bring something new to the table, but if it was just him, it would be another invasion flick. Baron Zemo should be saved for another Cap film, IMO.

And finally Kingsley=Trevor Slattery and Killian=MCU's Mandarin. That's the way it is my friend, and given "Iron Man 3"'s success, I don't see them changing that. It being a mistake is subjective anyway.

But's thanks for sharing your opinion : )

@eachonman,

I think we'd have to see what happens to Loki in TDW first before we start thinking about a return. :)

@TheHawkWithin,

I was only intending to use the costume. :)

He'd still be blonde and all. ;)

@Optimist18: Why would it have to be another invasion film? There are plenty of comics where it has just been Kang has gone mano e mano with the Avengers.

Optimist18 - 5/31/2013, 10:44 PM
@vandinejd,

I only said that because Kang has an army at his disposal. I'd find it much more interesting if Kang used the "Masters of Evil" to attack "The Avengers". I want Red Skull to return too, BTW, I just don't know if Hugo Weaving will come back, and considering I liked his performance in "The First Avenger", I'd like to see him return. But, recasting isn't new to Marvel Studios, so...

Anyways, I also only mentioned Crossbones because he was a member in the comics. Perhaps he and Red Skull can be a duo, much like Amora and Skurge would be?
