Excitement continues to build for the Batgirl movie coming to HBO Max, especially with Michael Keaton set to reprise the role of Batman following his DC Universe return in The Flash. His Caped Crusader is even getting a new Batsuit based on recent set photos, though we're not anticipating much more than an extended cameo. After all, this movie is supposed to tell Barbara Gordon's story!

Played by In The Heights star Leslie Grace, the movie - written by Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey's Christina Hodson and directed by Bad Boys for Life duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah - looks set to serve as a long-overdue reintroduction for Babs on screen. Of course, it won't be the big screen, as the streaming exclusive title is going to be the first of many DC movies made specifically for television.

With rumours of a 2022 debut and set photos showing a Christmas setting, there's been speculation that Batgirl might arrive on HBO Max this December. Now, that's seemingly been confirmed by veteran Batman franchise producer Michael E. Uslan in a Facebook post that reads, "And coming in November...and December...Michael Keaton Returns." The question is, when in December?

As of right now, Avatar 2 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are both set to battle it out on December 16. Not much is coming out before then, but given the success Wonder Woman 1984 found in 2020, we'd bank on Batgirl arriving on HBO Max on Christmas Day itself. While a couple of movies are scheduled to hit theaters that day, there's nothing likely to overshadow a new DC movie.

Stay tuned for updates.

@PlusUltra - Movie is a guilty pleasure. The best thing was Helen Slater and the movie's score. The rest was utter garbage !
