Batwoman: Why she should appear on the Silver Screen?

Batman has dominated the screen but I am offering my opinion on why Batwoman can be a hit as well.

The list of biggest name superheroes begins with Superman and has Batman as a close second. Over the years however with the lack of a successful Superman film or successful animated franchise post Superman: The Animated Series, and the success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman holds the title for best DC character, amongst the general public at least. Now with the financial success of Man of Steel a Justice League film seems inevitable, and along with that a new Batman.

Now, Batman should be more experienced in the new films and although the first film of the reboot shouldn't explore the origins of the Caped Crusader it should explore the first year of Batman in Gotham City, similar to the premise of the Arkham Origins video game being released. Over the course of the franchise the Bat-Family should expand, and with that comes my main topic: Introduce Batwoman. Not the one created for the sole purpose of showing that Batman and Robin were not gay, but Kate Kane.

Kate Kane, is one character from DC Comics Lore that should be represented on a larger format than comics due to her sexual orientation. In today's society homosexuality is commonly discussed topic, in California gay marriage is legal. The ramifications of such a character appearing on film would be incredible it wouldn't only show how we have gone past the narrow mind that has plagued society, but it would also bring a female superhero onto screen. Batwoman's character would be a representation of the main idea in Nolan's Trilogy, Batman is a symbol anyone can be batman. That is what Kate represents, because not only does she wear the Bat Symbol because it allows her to be recognized as a good guy, but it also is the symbol of the man who inspired her to fight crime.

Batwoman is not directly involved with the major Bat-Family which allows her to have a storyline not bogged down by crossovers. It also lets us see a corner of gotham city where the supernatural is more predominant and the stories border on horror. I for one believe that Kate Kane can be the next big thing, what do you fellow comic book movie users think?

DC doesn't have the balls to adapt the core Justice League members outside of Batman/Superman, no point in hoping for side characters getting the green light.

The only 2 members of the Batfamily outside of Bruce who deserve a film are Dick and Terry.

No one else does.

@Levi She isn't part of the bat-family, like i mentioned she uses the bat-symbol to show the people of gotham she is a good guy, and he inspired her.

The idea of introducing a character just because he/she is gay is politically correct nonsense. Kind of like Andrew Garfield saying he wants M.J. to stand for a guy's initials so that Spiderman can be bisexual (which is worse because it doesn't even come from the comics.) The vast majority of the general public doesn't even know who Batwoman is, they would probably assume she was an older version of Batgirl, and then be shocked to discover that she wasn't, and would be more shocked to discover that she was a lesbian.

If you really want a movie about a more obscure hero because you think they have a good story, that's fine. But the last thing I want is a comic book movie that is only made to promote a political/social agenda.

She deserves a movie because she's a bad ass.

I like the character and like the fact thats shes with Montoya but there are so many Bat stories to tell before we get to this. The gay superhero is a hot topic right now and Batwoman is the most successful of all of them. That doesnt mean she deserves a movie cause if the gay community really cared about superheroes then gay books would sell better. nuff said.

Nightwing or nothing.

So sad to see so many narrow minded people dismiss such a great character because they think it would be pandering.

Batwoman is about a million times more interesting than the generic womanizer that Nightwing is.

If anyone here actually picked a comic book up they'd see.

Oh boo ho about Batwoman. Fact is if we can't even get a [frick]ing Wonder Woman or Flash movie from DC, why would they do Batwoman? The problem in Batman & Robin was there were too many Bats in the cave and that's the same problem with the comics. I don't give a shit if she's Batfam or not, she wears a Bat symbol on her chest with means her name will go next to Batman. We already have Dick, Barbara, Cass, Jason, Tim, Steph, Damian, Batwoman, Huntress, Batwing, and many more.

The only members of the Batfamily who are important are Dick, Barbara, and Tim. Jason is only important because he's the Robin or died.

The fact that your saying she should get a film mostly because she's gay is [frick]ing stupid.

^General moviegoers dont read comics. The truth is, as much as these films are made for fans, they're made more for business. At the very least, Batwoman is a ripoff of Batman in the public's eyes while Nightwing is Batman's number one right hand man.

I don't even want a Batwoman movie because WB will most likely [frick] it up. But saying she doesn't deserve a movie is dumb when she's the only Bat character that can stand on her own and doesn't need Batman appearing in every issue to get people to buy her comic.

So I'll continue to enjoy Batwoman and you guys continue to pray WB finally decide to make a Nightwing movie in 2054.
