Who could possibly pick up where Nolan will leave Batman in "The Dark Knight Rises"?

After "The Dark Knight Rises", director Chris Nolan said that this second sequel to his Batman franchise would be his last along with Christian Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Is there anyone else in the future that might take over for him?

Not long after it was reported that Nolan was working on the third film to the Batman saga, it was rumored that this movie would be his last Batman project. And months later, while promoting his science fiction thriller "Inception", he confirmed that after the third Batman movie, he would be finished telling his story of the dark knight. While at the same time, Christian Bale also said that his time as the Batman would possibly come to an end after Nolan. So does this mean that after Batman rises, we will have to wait for another reboot to follow after many years of waiting to see Gotham dark guardian return to take on the forces of evil? Hopefully, we won't have to wait that long! There are many other talents out there that are ready to continue on the franchise. So guys, who can you see taking on the Batman movieverse? More importantly, if it happens, who can play Batman for future films?

Well I hope WB go outside the box like they did with Nolan. So some one like Cronenberg or Romanek. Hopefully they give the franchise at least five years off but I doubt that since its one of there cash cow. But who ever it is good luck to them because they have one hell of job to do

I think they are going to focus on the Justice League movie right now and possibly spin off that. There will be a new Batman, what if people like him? Whatever happens next I just want to see a mixture of realistic and unrealistic. Tim Burtons movies sucked but they should have never put him in position to direct that anyway. Nolans movie rocked but he has such artistic direction its more or less his movie not Batmans. I want to see a movie that does Batman true justice with every inclusion, and yes I mean Robin. Yea Robin maybe gay but Dick Greyson grows up, becomes Nightwing, The Red Hood, and new Batman. Now Ive always wanted to see a Nightwing movie.

@Hellsing

Truth be told. Because when Nolan steps down from the director's chair of the film series, it's gonna be a tough run to follow.

@cdpacheco89
At that point, Batman will be one of the top players in DC film industry for future Justice League films. BTW, I thought Burton's films were good. He pioneered the suit, voice and eye shadow.

I think that The Dark Knight Rises will be a masterpiece. The best of the three movies (arguably). Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight will keep it at a level that will be tough to beat. I think Nolan wouldnt have done TDKR if he didnt have a better movie. I anticipate that TDKR will only have fans thirsting for more TDK movies with Nolan at the Helm. He is going to do such an unbelievable job with Bane and Catwoman that fans will be dying to see him tackle Black Mask, The Penguin, The riddler, ect... fans will demand that he stay on for a 4th and perhaps 5th and 6th.

If Warners was smart they'd get Darren Aronofsky

lets have a break from batman,try other heroes out.

we maybe getting our first decent superman film since superman 2.

green lantern is a box office flop,but this shouldn't stop dc trying to branch out with other characters.

leave batman alone for about five years or so.

Show us other Superheroes Warner Brother/DC!

Get Darren Aronofsky to do a 1950's set noir {Sin City style} take on Batman. No origin. New villains {The Riddler, Killer Croc}.

Unless of course Christopher Nolan has decided to have Bruce spread the "Batman Movement" by the end of his film. Like Grant Morrison's 'BATMAN INCORPORATED'. Wayne funds others around the world to become ninjas, warriors, Batman-like heroes. We follow their individual adventures.

I strongly believe DC can give us a Justice League movie and branch out from there. They can always have pre-Justice League films to show their origins. Or Justice League can introduce us to them, like Martian Manhunter.

Let Batman rest for awhile, no reboot in this decade.

@cdpacheco89: Jason Todd was (is) Red Hood, not Dick Grayson.

Quick comment: I watched TDK again yesterday, in the scene where Bruce Wayne is talking to Fox about modifying his costume, he asks Fox how it will hold up against dogs. Fox makes a comment about it doing well against cats. Was this foreshadowing to TDKR? I just never picked up on it till now.
If this is common knowledge I apologize, don't berate me angry fanboy style.

@ yossarian: LOL. But don't you think there's a chance these sites are checked for fan opinions? Just maybe?

Anyway, I would like to see any actor who can portray the dark ninja-like style of Batman, being scary by saying nothing and sneaking around, not yelling at bad guys and villains in a stupid voice to appear intimidating.

Reboot again and have David Fincher direct (imagine Se7en but Batman). Put Batman in his late 40s and have Crispin Glover as the Joker. Who could play Bats? I'll have to think on that one.

Before we can ever imagine replacing what Nolan's done with Batman, let's focus on some other DC heroes who have potential. With Superman: Man of Steel on it's way we can definitely see a sequel of that, also how about a Green Lantern Sequel? Although I loved Green Lantern, many critics and you guys hated it. It needs a sequel and they can eliminate all of its problems of the past, and focus more on Sinestro and Hal, while making a kick ass franchise. Also we can definitely use a Flash movie. His powers of super speed make up for something everyone dreams of, making a good movie and a potential franchise. We all would love to see The Flash hit the theaters, and with these three potential franchises on our way, Batman can rest while we still enjoy what we have.

@cerebro I second that. If they are going to do another Batman movie after this then Batman Beyond would be the way to go. To be honest after TDKR I don't have a desire to see anymore Batman films for at least 10-15 years or ever again for that matter. WB shouldn't fool themselves by trying to recapture the magic that Nolan gave the franchise. Would you reboot The Godfather?
