Well, it seems Jesse Eisenberg is not the the evil Lex Luthor type some have made him out to be after his much maligned San Diego Comic Con appearance. The Academy Award nominee recently visited Bloomington, Indiana (home of the Indiana University Hoosiers and yours truly), and took a "Mission Tour" of Middle Way House, a non-profit shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Toby Strout, executive director of Middle Way House, had this to say about the "American Ultra" star:
"He was sitting there so thoughtfully through the whole thing, and at he end he said, "Ok, I'm going to do this thing."
The "thing" he committed to do was to create a donation-matching fundraising campaign for Middle Way House in which he has pledged to match up to $100,000 in contributions to the not-for-profit organization.
Apparently, the connection between Eisenberg and Strout's family goes back more than a decade. The "Zombieland" actor dated Strout's daughter, Anna, for a few years and, according to Strout, still remain friends to this day.
"He's a really fine young man," Strout went on to say. "He's very curious and very interested in the world and injustice. He very much wants to play a part in alleviating distress and making life better for people."
Starting in November, the funds raised through the charity event will go towards paying off the mortgage on "New Wings", one of Middle Way House's facilities.
