A bit of word for myself so as to make this review more clear : I am a great DC fan and an ardent Batman enthusiast. I was more than overhyped for this movie...from day 1 to today...all teh pictueres,announcements,interviews,teaser,tailers,youtube reaction,b-roll foootages,promos,tv spots....everything you can think of multiple times.I am a supporter of Ben Affleck being cast as the Caped Crusader from DAY 1. Not so sure about Gal or Jesse.I love Man of Steel and one of the few who thinks what SUPERMAN did was right and the best he could have done in the situation !
So lets start.....
To start with the film kick opens with the Waynes being killed and the scene was awesome right from the DC logo and WB logo go up and you can see the leaves falling.One of the most extraordinary potrayals....Snyder's slow-mo really worked there !
But as you go deep into the story you will realiase that what the critics are saying are not entirely wrong - Its a movie with very poor editing and compromising buildup over material. The movie has to fit in many characters I agree , but it completely let go of the building...you won't be able to get hold of anything properly and this would piss off the most of us and would be the deciding factor between good and very good !
Well lets move on , the second thing which pissed me off is that Batman kills ....I mean seriously...No I can not accept it ! Yeah I have heard the issues is being adressed by snyder but I think all those are lame comparing this to the retro 89 or the dark knight returns. Dude ! No batman fan would tolerate this in the DCEU....The one difference that seperates the dark knight from the criminals he fight....the path joker has always tried to push him into...This just does not fit in !
Lex Luthor ! I don't know .... I coudln't dig into Jesse's approach....it is confusing , demonic , siniter but the overall stuffs he does in the movie kind of reminds me of the joker from the comics. Where's Lex ? No! Did not work for me ! Not at all !
The dawn of justice part of the movie - again a bit forced....Batman and Superman understandings play like toys after that fight...but its not a big deal..It can be underestimated provided the great acting they did ! Seriously !
Last and one of the major cons....The movie contains major stupid points...LOOPHOLES !
Well however , the movie has lot to be admired upon or devoured on ....
The easter eggs,references,cameos are phenomenol ....... DC fans will eat it up !
Ben Affleck.....well done as expected ! He is definately a good Bruce Wayne and Snyder takes care of the Dark Knight .
Alfred....Awesome job Irons...a very different and nice take on Batman !
Superman...Well I would say nailed it. Snyder clearly did not backup from his approach and proved to the backlashers that being 'most powerful and most good' is not possible at the same time ! I was kinda expecting it and thus I loved it !
Wonder Woman : she was the highlight of the third act and did a great job. I am impressed Gal. I look forward to WW now.
Doomsday : well yes his origination is a bit off place but yes...as I was expecting...he grows protection as the more he gets hurt ! so +1 on that...for being true to the comics.
The trailers did so a lot of the movie...all the whats and whos...the film explained the why and hows !!!
And to the dark and gritty I do not think the same...at all !
So my overall score would be around 3.5/5 and I am really not happy to this. I was really looking forward to this and I think the only one main person who let me down is Snyder. The other caste is Super cool and talented...no doubt !
