BLACK ADAM Movie Cast and Characters Explained !!!

Hey Everyone, and Welcome to WDIM Plus, where today I will be breaking down all of the announced cast and characters in the upcoming DCEU blockbuster superhero film, Black Adam.  I am really enthusiastic about this movie as not only is it a sequel to Shazam, a movie I very much enjoyed but it also stars Dwayne Johnson, an actor I have followed for decades and who has wanted to play this character for almost as long.  The studio just announced a release date for Black Adam of July 29, 2022 as well as another movie in the Shazam series, named Shazam Fury of the Gods which will have Helen Mirren star as that films villain.  The characters in this movie are also very intriguing as it appears that various elements of Black Adam’s past will appear, which include members of the Justice Society of America a percussor to the Justice League.  The time in which the movie takes place has not yet been revealed, but I believe that it may take place in the recent past as the teaser released by the studio in 2020 implies that Black Adam will work with the JSA for some time.  Black Adam is a very powerful yet complicated character with a long and convoluted past, so in this video I will try and frame these characters as I believe they will be portrayed in this adaptation, as each character that is not one of the newer ones has had their backstory changed more than once.  Here, I will go over each role as well as the actor or actress playing them and how I believe they fit into the story, but let me know in the comments if I missed anything about any of your favorite characters.  If you enjoy character breakdown videos like this, I do release videos weekly so hit that subscribe button and if you appreciate this video, you can help support this channel by hitting that like button.  This is a new channel that is based around my love for superhero content that I branched off from my main channel, What Did I Miss, which centers more on science fiction.  So if you want to check out a lot more videos, there is a link in the description to there as well.  Alright, so let’s get into my character breakdown of cast of the upcoming movie, Black Adam.

- Doctor Fate / Kent Nelson Debuted in More Fun Comics 1940 Played by Pierce Brosnan

One thing that DC comics does well is explore the mystical side of the superhero genre, and an example of that is the character Doctor Fate.  This is another character with a lot of history, and many people have assumed the role, but the one that is being used in the movie Black Adam is the OG Kent Nelson version so that is who I will discuss here.  Commonly referenced as the DC comics version of Dr. Strange, Kent Nelson actually predates the Dr. Strange character by 23 years so if anything it is the other way around.  His backstory starts in the 1920’s when his father, who is an archeologist takes him on a dig in Egypt and Kent stumbles upon a hidden sarcophagus that when opened unleashes an ancient alien named Nabu.  His father his killed by doing this, and the alien agrees to mentor Kent by teaching him the secrets of the universe and giving him powerful equipment to use.  His powers stem from three things; the Amulet of Anubis, the Cloak of Destiny and the Helmet of Fate which together grant him the powers of invulnerability, flight, superhuman strength, telekinesis, and various other magical powers.  The character will be played by former Agent 007 Pierce Brosnan and he along with the next character I will discuss are billed as being mentor’s of the new member of the Justice Society.  Given the character ties to Egyptian history and iconography, I can also see him being a strong opponent of Black Adam should the need arise.
