JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Henry Cavill Takes A Shot At His Superman Return In BLACK ADAM's Post-Credits Scene

Man of Steel and Justice League star Henry Cavill has commented briefly on his return as Superman in Black Adam's memorable post-credits scene, joking that he doesn't have "much luck" with stingers...

While news of his cameo leaked a few days before Black Adam arrived in theaters (likely to drum up interest in the movie), Henry Cavill's return as Superman was cause for celebration among most fans.

In a post-credits scene, Kal-El arrived in Kahndaq to confront Teth-Adam, setting the stage for a future clash. The plan was for a Man of Steel sequel to also happen, while Cavill even shot scenes for The Flash which saw him, Sasha Calle's Supergirl, and Michael Keaton's Batman confront Barry Allen after his trip back in time.

Cavill was even being lined up for a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie, but his bright future as Superman ended when DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn chose to reboot the DCEU and replace him with David Corenswet in SUPERMAN.

Appearing before a screening of Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Cavill took a shot at his stint in the DCEU and the fact his Black Adam cameo came to nought.

Suggesting Ritchie had cut him after he'd shot something for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword's post-credits scene, the actor joked (via Business Insider), "Turns out, I don't have much luck with post-credit scenes. So, I may give up on those."

Black Adam proved a real low point of Cavill's career. As well as missing out on the projects above, he'd taken to social media shortly after the movie's opening weekend to confirm his return to much fanfare.

Two months later, he was fired from the role.

"It's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman," Cavill wrote. "After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. I respect that James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes."

Gunn would later respond by saying, "For me, it's about, Who do I want to cast as Superman, and who do the filmmakers we have want to cast? And for me, for this story, it isn't Henry."

"I like Henry, I think he's a great guy," he added. "I think he's getting dicked around by a lot of people, including the former regime at this company. But this Superman is not Henry, for a number of reasons."

Cavill has plenty of other exciting projects on the way, but will the next James Bond movie be among them? Find out what he had to say about that here.

I don't blame gunn, I blame his bosses for firing and hiring a Henry lookalike.

@harryba11zack - "Black Adam proved a real low point of Cavill's career." .... the phuck you on about? it was a cameo? he did not star in the film, that sh1t is on the rock.

@harryba11zack - and if anything, that's the one thing people cared about with black Adam. No one cared about the movie, but people were excited to get more cavill superman.

The low point was when they canceled his future appearances right after telling him to say he was returning.

@harryba11zack - I think Henry was done dirty, and it's too bad his version of the character never got a good film, but to be fair, Corenswet is a better actor.

@harryba11zack - "Henry lookalike"???

Why can't people like you let this go? David looks like Superman just like Henry looks like Superman. Both men look like Superman.

@harryba11zack - Both are white with dark hair which is typical Superman lol. Corenswet is younger and taller though. And he trained at Julliard. Probably has more in common with Christopher Reeve actually.

@harryba11zack - Henry was messed around. Though he did try to be the diva and refused to appear for lesser cameos and less money initially, I can't help but feel we were finally about to get a good movie with him after his short lived post credit scene. Ah well.

Maybe we can still have him in future if they do a crisis adaption.

@Izaizaiza -
I disagree. MoS, BvS directors cut and Zacks Justice League were great Superman moments. Even The other Justice League wasn't terrible just terrible compared to the Snyder Cut.

@Supes8210 - Eh, ok. We can disagree on that. I think. Snyder should always have a co-director that rains him in, and should never have any input on the story and script, unless it's his original property

Yes, it sounds like his post-credit cameo career is over with.

The only Superman able to hold a candle to Reeve's version, Henry was perfect but the writers and director let him down. I understand Gunn's need to hire a new face. Apart form the much smaller paycheck, he needs to create clear blue sky between his vision and the Snyder Universe. However, it will always be a regret that we never got to see Henry fulfil his potential in the role.

@Lisa89 - Good point. The new guy is slightly taller, a little more hair and a little less good looking but yep, essentially the same face

@ZomZom - Cavill will always be my Superman and MOS will always be my favourite Superman film. I suppose everyone has their own perspective and critique of who and what Superman is. What Synder and Cavill did with the character in MOS is sound. BvS & Justice league failed to add depth or nuance to Superman, he was more of a plot device however the overall portrayal of Kal-El is distinguished. I liked Cavill’s version of Clark Kent in BvS. I love the hue, texture and detail of Superman’s costume especially the cape. I also love how Synder photographed and executed Superman within his vision. That shot of him levitating above the woman who’s reaching out with her hand, whilst her home is flooded is a beautiful moment of cinema. The visual imagery in that sequence is truly majestic. Synder’s Superman looked authentic, felt more believable and refined. I also prefer a Superman who’s broody, stoic, pugnacious in his approach to conflict but with that tiny little bit of charm, humanity and humility, those core traits that make Superman who he is at his core. Cavill embodied those traits with finesse. Cavill’s efforts in the role should not be overlooked. His contribution to the character is commendable. At least he can look back and say - “well I was the first Superman to fight Batman onscreen, team up with him and WW to form the justice league.” That’s a cool merit to have under his belt. I’m not looking forward to whatever Gunn & Corenswet are cooking up. I’m content in being a butt hurt Synder/DCEU fan. It is what it is lol.

Love Henry Cavill. If his Superman were paired with Christian Bale's Batman then DC could have been an epic shared universe, one where the biggest stars would have wanted to be a part of it.

Corenswet may be a Teamu Henry Cavill but he is a more charismatic actor.

I also think Corenswet looks a bit like John Krasinski. Something in his features. A dopiness.

Henry rocks. He is the definitive Superman for Gen Y, just as Christopher is the definitive Superman for Gen X. No one will take that away from Henry. Credit to that hack Zack Snyder for casting Henry and destroying his on-screen character in the two sequels.
