BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Actor Winston Duke Will Have An "Expanded Role" As M'Baku

Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever resumed production this week, and a new report has confirmed that Winston Duke negotiated a "hefty raise" to return as M'Baku for an expanded role.

By MarkCassidy - Jan 15, 2022 08:01 AM EST

Yesterday, we got word that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had resumed production in Atlanta following a short hiatus, and THR has now shared a few interesting updates.

According to the trade, Winston Duke negotiated a substantial raise to return as M'Baku for what is being described as an "expanded role in the Panther mythos." This could simply mean that the leader of the Jabari Tribe will have a little more to do in the sequel, of course, but many feel that M'Baku should be the one to take up the mantle of Black Panther in T'Challa's absence, and this news has only fuelled ongoing speculation.

Shuri is still the bookie's favorite to follow in her brother's footsteps, however, and it's also been confirmed that Letitia Wright is back on set after taking some time off to recover from an injury. There's been some concern that the actress, who has espoused controversial anti-vax views in the past, might still be unvaccinated. Wright's status remains unclear, but THR does add that "those issues have been resolved."

These delays are not expected to impact Wakanda Forever's release date, and the sequel is still expected to hit theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.

@KeyzerSoze - naw not Spidey numbers. Flipping their release order may have forced reshoots and timeline changes but it’s gonna end up paying off in spades

@TheHumanSpider2 - After reshoots. Still in production perfecting the VFX. Get ready for a badass Wanda vs Strange fight.

@KeyzerSoze - Wouldnt be the first time reshoots save a movie...
Just like with NWH, expecting the best, prepared for the worst, I just hope Sam was in charge of reshoots, because it would be noticiable if he wasnt.

@KeyzerSoze

Eternals apparently had the best test screenings in Marvel history, if @Jeight8 is to be believed.

Could see M'Baku as the leader of the Wakandan army, but not really as Black Panther. Nor can I see Shuri as Black Panther. Rather see a completely new character take the mantle
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 8:41 AM
@bkmeijer - a variant that does everything in reverse
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 8:50 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - okay maybe not the reverse part, but I definitely can see JDW as the new Black Panther.

Could make him Kasper Cole, but change him to native Wakandan (as T'Cole?)
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 10:03 AM
@bkmeijer - T’Cole, the Great Value T’Challa or the Great Value J Cole?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 10:15 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - or Andy Cole?
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 10:51 AM
@bkmeijer - Keyshia Cole no doubt

By the way a white friend of mine named Keisha with 5 mixed kids got accepted to an all black school

Only she didn’t know it was all black (didn’t care either) and they didn’t know she was white (they did care, they didn’t let her in)

bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 11:08 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - so neither of them did a background check beforehand? Thats an interesting turn of events
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 11:17 AM
@bkmeijer - it sounds like a lie huh? Like she lied to me LOL. Well she had another story, I promised not to share it so I won’t, but without details, she met a talk show host after a disaster, and was on a show getting disaster relief. Well when a church approached her to help her, the show said they would take all their help away if she took other help. I looked it up and sure enough it was true. So this other thing might actually be true too.

Meaning there were a lot of stupid people involved. Not my friend. GheeeeTTO! But never stupid, never that

bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 11:21 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - okay, scratch what I said before. Now THIS is an interesting turn of events for sure
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 11:28 AM
@bkmeijer - right man I wanna say who the talk show host was so BAD, I watched a clip and it was in a place I’ve been to before. And then for the show to want all the glory and not even let a church help? Man. The dark side of disaster assistance.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 11:37 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - that sounds like exactly what I expect a tv show like that to do though
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 11:46 AM
@bkmeijer - indeed
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 1/15/2022, 8:39 AM

Nemesis17then
Nemesis17then - 1/15/2022, 8:51 AM
I say have Tchallas son be like Benjamin Button so that he can take up the mantle from a very small age while already looking like a grown up. Or just fricking recast. These are the 2 options.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 1/15/2022, 9:34 AM
@Nemesis17then - or a variant, which doesn't really have to be a recast per se
