The Black Panther soundtrack was a commercial and critical hit, so it probably won't surprise you to learn that Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios are looking to put something equally as special together for next year's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That first effort was executive produced by Kendrick Lamar and features songs from the likes of SZA, Future, Travis Scott, and Jorja Smith.
Now, Metro has shared some insight into who Marvel Studios is looking to secure for this follow-up.
"Doja Cat is one of the artists who is in line to perform on the soundtrack because of her South African heritage," they claim. "The Weeknd, Solange and Stormzy are also being considered as the producers want a wide range of smash hit artists to make this soundtrack bigger than the first."
Tony Lanez was previously "in the running" to be included, but that's looking unlikely seeing as he'll soon be on trial after Megan Thee Stallion's shooting. Instead, R&B stars Giveon and Brent Faiyaz are among those now being considered. It even sounds like some artists will make physical appearances in the movie as "There’s talk of a few of them making cameos but that’s still being discussed."
After the Black Panther soundtrack hit #1 in the Billboard 200 and won multiple awards, the pressure is on to deliver something really special with this follow-up. It's probably going to be a while before we learn any official details, but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11, 2022.
