BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Star Lupita Nyong'o To Lead A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE

Paramount Pictures' upcoming A Quiet Place prequel has found its lead, with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress Lupita Nyong'o now in final negotiations to star in Day One...

We recently learned that Pig director Michael Sarnoski would take the helm of the next instalment in the A Quiet Place franchise, and the prequel film has now found its lead.

According to Deadline (via FearHQ), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Lupita Nyong'o is in final talks to board A Quiet Place: Day One, though no details on her character were provided.

The movie will, presumably, recount the alien creatures' initial arrival on Earth and decimation of the populace. We saw how this played out for the Abbot family at the start of Part II, so there's a good chance Day One will focus on an entirely new set of characters.

The trades note that John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and co. are not expected to appear, but don't rule out the possibility.

A direct follow-up, A Quiet Place: Part III, is also in development, with Krasinski set to return as director. Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe and Cillian Murphy are expected to reprise their roles, though no plot details have been revealed.

Part II was the first post-pandemic theatrical-only release, and ended up taking in over $297 million at the worldwide box office. The movie also garnered rave reviews (you can check out ours here), and sits at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wait…wasn’t a quite place 2 set in day 1 for a good chunk of the movie?

@TheFireForce

The opening 10 minutes, maybe.

@regularmovieguy - I mean it’s still day 1… which means this is a prequel to a prequel that was a sequel…

God I hate Hollywood…

@TheFireForce - We only saw the aliens land in A Quiet Place 2 for the first 10 minutes to introduce us to Emmett. We didn't really see the fall of humanity. So it would be interesting to see the fall of humanity. Especially within a major city. I think the only horror film that showed us the fall of mankind that was actually scary and unsettling was Dawn of the Dead (2004).

@SonOfAGif - but we already know it happened...we've seen that human race has essentially been beaten back and we know they had no efficient way to deal with the creatures at the time. So while yeah there are things they can show its still something that doesn't need to be shown. Basically if they can reveal the aliens origins and ruin the mystery (something hollywood loves to do) behind them or have yet another movie of the same old same old run and survive.

It's one of those I don't understand why they just can't progress the story forward or just leave it alone.

@TheFireForce - Shhhh!

@TheFireForce - I'm definitely one that doesn't get why prequels even matter when a story is complete but since the story of A Quiet Place has not concluded, The Prequel might offer a specific plot point that Part III will pick up on. Perhaps with a character or location introduced in the prequel that will save time avoiding story telling in Part III.

Can we move on. It was a good concept, but this is how you run a franchise to the ground. You did it for 2 movies, move on. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but it just seems unnecessary.
