TFATWS Star Anthony Mackie Insists He's "Not In" BLACK PANTHER 2 Despite Giving An Update On The Sequel

Comments from TFATWS star Anthony Mackie have led to speculation that he might make an appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The actor insists he's "not in it," but is he telling the truth?

There's been speculation that Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson could make an appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for a while, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star has now denied any involvement with the sequel... while providing an update on the movie's status!

While chatting to E! News on red carpet of the Grammys, Mackie revealed how excited he was for Black Panther 2 having "witnessed" the making of the Marvel Studios follow-up first hand.

"I'm very excited to say that [Black Panther: Wakanda Forever] just wrapped filming," said the actor. "It's gonna be amazing, it's going to be spectacular. I am not [in it], but I've seen—I've been there, I've witnessed. I'm very excited for everybody to see Black Panther 2. It's in the can, it's in the coming out, it's done."

It wouldn't exactly be unheard of for an MCU star to pay a visit to the set of a project they didn't have a role in, but that doesn't mean Mackie isn't in the movie! After all, TFATWS established the new Captain America's ties to Wakanda when the Bucky called in a favor from the Dora Milaje to secure the Vibranium for his friend's new costume.

That said, there is already a lot going on in the Black Panther sequel, so we're inclined to believe Mackie is on the level here.

Official plot details are still under wraps, but we have been assured that Wakanda Forever will honor the late Chadwick Boseman while continuing the legacy of his character, T'Challa. We may now know how Marvel and director Ryan Coogler intend to achieve this, but it's quite spoilery, so click here if you want to learn more!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 11, 2022.

Don't care, just recast T'Challa!

@Waddles - that’s the audience’s name, we need something less on the nose, something that conveys Falcon, captain America, and black Panther… Eddie Griffin!

Guess he was just there on wrapping day. Doubt he's gonna be in it, and if he's in it it's probably just for a mid- or post-credit scene.

But anyway, it finally wrapped filming? Guess it could make that november release date, even though I still kinda doubt it. Just swap it with The Marvels I'd say

And why would he be there?

This is the exact same bs like Samuel Jackson crying for not being in BP (2018).

Just because the characters have the same race, doesn't mean they fit the same story.

I hope someone doesn't read my comment as racist, because I sure as hell am not that kind of guy.

@UXASIS - I mean he’s not only a major Avenger now but his entire power set relies on vibranium so it’s not really that much of a stretch that he’d appear in Wakanda

@Waddles

I was also thinking the post-credits scene fits the most.

@Ha1frican

Sure, but with that logic, Steve Rogers and Bucky should have been secondary characters all the time.

@UXASIS - I mean Bucky basically was lol he was shown in Wakanda before we ever even saw Wakanda, appeared at the end of Black Panther, and a major part of his story in his own show was his dealings with the Dora Milage. The only reason Steve wasn’t was bc he was a fugitive and also still running international ops, until Thanos attacked… and he immediately went to Wakanda lol

Anyway, it is strange that the movie is coming in a few months, and they haven't announced the new BP actor.

This makes me think they will put the mantle on a Wakandan we already know.

(I pray it is Okoye, because she deserves it!)

I trust Coogler. Just don’t screw the VFX guys like you did last time.

Corridor Crew recently had on one of the guys who worked on the fight and explained the final BP fight [frick] up. They were rushed by Marvel.

@BlackBeltJones - with how bad it looked I would’ve thought they’d still be doing touch ups to this day

@MyCoolYoung - LOL. He said the main vfx studio didn't even work on that scene. The main got rushed into focusing on something else and the new studio they brought in to finish the cave battle worked on another system and didn't have time to update their systems to match what was being used for the whole movie up to that point. So they did what they could HANDICAPPED.

The above-ground fight between tribes was going to be smaller too but Marvel wanted it to be bigger.

@BlackBeltJones - smh I hope they let coogler work without changing anything. The man has earned it

Although I'm most hyped to see the upcoming Dr. Strange film more than any other this year, I am curious as hell to see how the new Black Panther film plays out. Fingers crossed that Coogler and crew will have pulled it off to everyones satisfaction. Just can't imagine at this point how it will be done. Can't wait to see it regardless.

"I am not [in it], but I've seen.." So clearly he's in a post credit?!
