Though we did pay a visit to Wakanda in Captain America: Civil War, we only got a very brief glimpse of a foggy jungle region as Cap and T'Challa looked out a window during the mid-credits scene. However, thanks to some new concept art from Andrew Leung, we can get a much better idea of the designs that were envisioned for the film.

The images feature a glimmering, futuristic-looking city (presumably capital of Birnin Zana) surrounded by lakes, in the middle of gigantic valley.

Could this stunning work inform the design for Wakanda in the solo Black Panther movie? It's possible, but chances are they'll be starting from scratch, maybe only taking influence from a particular aspect here and there.

Captain America: Civil War is out now on Blu-ray and DVD, while Black Panther claws its way into theaters on February 16, 2018.

Cool looking, but doubtful it will be the design we ultimately see. If cats and water got along, we would have a serious problem when we go boating. Can you imagine being on a cruise and all of a sudden hearing that an angry wild tiger swam onboard?!

I just can't believe that people thought the city that Hulk and Iron Man fought in Age of Ultron was Wakanda. Like Clevver Movies, Emergency Awesome, IGN, and I think some articles on here stated that as well.

@Salamalamalama - Yeah, that's ridiculous. Admittedly though, the shot of the quinjet lowering into Seoul I did think at the time might be Wakanda.

@MosquitoFarmer - Yeah that's a simple mistake. That's from the trailer. And that bit does look like a modern futuristic city. But even after the movie came out and everyone watched it, they were still stating that Johannesburg was Wakanda. IT'S EVEN IN THE CREDITS!

@Salamalamalama - Some people think Buenos Aires is the capital of Brazil instead of Argentina.

@Salamalamalama - That's just dumb as hell. Anyone who's seen the movie should obviously know, plus if you even one damn thing about Wakanda other than that it is in Africa, you should know how stupid that is to assume.

@xinstituto - But Brazil is NOT the capital of Argentina. If I remember right, it's Lima.

@MosquitoFarmer - Thank you. I mean, no offence to Johannesburg, but if you think a country that mines the most valuable metal on Earth looks like Johannesburg, you're an idiot. The United Arab Emirates has tons of oil and look how Dubai and Abi Dhabi look.

@xinstituto - BWhhhhhhutttt? Saying that the capital of Brazil is Rio I can understand. Common misconception. But Buenos Aires?! Where's my Jackie Chan meme!?

that's not just a valley, that's most likely the impact crater of the meteor that brought the vibranium ore to Earth

I hope they do have that, or at least a version of it, in the solo movie.

Looks like a sandbox game that uses mountains to keep the player inside the area.

My initial reaction was to hate it, but the whole Wakandan vibranium meteorite thing, and vibranium making an unearthly strange crater... is a compelling story. And maybe it's isolated in the 19th century, but this thing stands out like a sore thumb on Google Earth.

The city is cool, though. The crater just looks crazy unrealistic.
