Does that mean we'll have to pay twice if we buy the hard copy of a book and then want the digital version as well? I sure hope not! Great idea otherwise though.

@Nomis: I think you mean "without" remorse. The Punisher and Wolverine are not the only representative heroes Marvel has: Cap, Iron Man, and Thor, who at least this year are Marvel's biggest properties, do not blindly kill as a solution to their problems.

Incidentally, what are the last three decades of Batman--D.C.'s most lucrative property--if not the story of an "angry, brooding anti-hero?" What to do, oh what to do, DC, with the rest of your stable? Casting the annoying Ryan Reynolds in a Green Lantern flick doesn't seem to be the solution.

I LIKE THAT THEY CHANGED THE LOOK OF SOME BUT I HAVE WIERD FEELINGS WHEN THEY CHANGE THE LOOK OF SUPERMAN..A CHARACTER SO ICONIC, I MEAN IN THE MOVIES PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT ROUTH'S COSTUME, THE "S" IS TOO SMALL. THE COLLAR IS TOO HIGH, THE COLORS ARE TOO DARK, AND TO DO SOMETHING EVEN MORE EXTENSIVE..I DUNNO, I MEAN THE FIRST TIME I SAW THE PIC

I SAID, "OH ITS A SUPERMAN CLONE, OR SOME LOOK THAT WONT LAST". BUT I MEAN I LOVE SOME OF THE COSTUME CHANGES, I THINK ROBIN'S LOOK IS PRETTY SWEET,

MORE OF A ROBIN. BUT CHANGING THE MORE ICONIC CHARACTERS IT'S JUST A BIT OFF PUTTING A BIT, IF THERE'S GOOD STORY BEHIND IT THEN I THINK IT'LL BE FINE BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN...YOU KNOW THESE CHARACTERS FOR SO LONG THEN TO HAVE THEM CHANGE THINGS RAISES EYEBROWS.

SUPERBOY LOOKS LIKE TRON..

STUFF LIKE THAT..I'M SURE THEY HAVE PUT ALOT OF THOUGHT INTO IT ALL..I THINK THEY SAW HOW THINGS WERE GETTING STALE IN A SENSE AND I THINK THEY..IF I'M GUESSING..ARE GOING TO DO THINGS MORE LIKE MARVEL..

Rumor has it that Superman curses in Justice League #1. Geoff Johns was quoted as saying this makes the character more relateable to the [frick]ing public.

@marvel72- Individual comics not only take excessive space, but at least for me, the trade paperbacks are MUCH easier to keep track of in terms of when they are released.

I'll admit to being a bit upset about the reboot at first, but every day I'm becoming more and more okay with it.
This video is completley reassuring, it will be a successful reboot.

I don't mind the new looks but changing Superman's origin so he is raised as a weapon by the government is pretty retarded. Are any of you reading this crap in Flashpoint??? It sucks!!!
WaylonJones
WaylonJones - 6/30/2011, 11:59 AM
I can't imagine that this will stick and if it does they are dumb for doing it with Action Comics being a couple of years away from being the first comic to reach 1000

@ar8898. Correct me if i am wrong. ( I might be) but doesn't Flashpoint take place in another Universe? In that universe Superman was raised to be a super weapon. In the universe that we all know, he is not.

@thedarkkknight1939. The Flashpoint series is set in the regular DC Universe that Reverse Flash has created by traveling back in time and changing historical events. No alternate universe and apparently no going back to the good old DC we grew up with.

I never got why people decided to choose sides in this Marvel/DC debate. The truth is by drawing a line in the sand both sides are just denying themselves the full experience. Read both. They're both really good at doing what they do, but that doesn't mean they have to do the same thing. Marvel is great at creating relatable characters and scenarios. DC is great at these big, over the top, epic in scale kinds of stories. Different, yes, but neither is better or worse. Make mine Marvel! Or DC! It really doesn't matter as long as the story and characters are written well!
ar8898
ar8898 - 6/30/2011, 1:10 PM
@TheDarkKnight1939

Nope, all these events are taking place in the regular DC Universe. Geoff Johns came up with this lame story in which professor zooms is running around changing history. These changes will be sticking around after Flashpoint as the rebooted DC Universe.

You can read about Superman in Flashpoint: Project Superman #1 which came out yesterday.

I really try to stay positive with these things but they make it harder and harder. It seems like they are abandoning everyone who supports them for a new audience. The change in story is a cheap ploy to make more issue number 1s. This made DC and Marvel a lot of money back in the nineties and there hoping that that happens again. This will not attract new readers... Comic book fans are really the only ones paying attention to this breaking news, anyway. If you read comics you read comics, like people who read books. If you make decent movies people will wander into a comic book shop and see what else they can find. I work at a comic book shop and the fact is I don't know how many orders of books anybody should buy because there selling it online. Jim Lee's involvement also leads me to believe there going to "Marvel-up" the DC universe. Looking at some of the character design's sharp and shinny costumes reminds me of all those X titles in the 90's. (If I see Superman with pouches I'm going to... not be happy) But in 2 years they'll undo it and renumber all the books to issue one again, so marvel it up till then. And support your local comic shops.... PLEASE.

@ar8898 Superman isn't going to be raised as a superweapon by the time of the relaunch, that's just part of the Flashpoint timeline. DC wouldn't dare change that because comic fans like you would freak the [frick] out. Not very much from the Flashpoint timeline will even make it back to the DCU, do you really think Thomas Wayne's going to be Batman and that DC will just pour all of the last 50+ years of continuity down the drain? Maybe some of it, but not all.
ar8898
ar8898 - 6/30/2011, 3:24 PM
@Dane

Superman is the biggest change that is coming out of flashpoint. Dan Didio already said that Superman's origin will be changed at the end of flashpoint and like I mentioned before, you can already see it happening in the Flashpoint: Project Superman book.

@ar8898
Oh, please enlighten me with a link.

You do realize that the Flashpoint timeline is pretty much an alternate universe don't you? But it's not, isn't it, all the Flashpoint stuff is going to stick. That's why Damian still exists in the new Batman & Robin series. That's why Dick has a Nightwing series, yet in the Flashpoint Universe he's just a circus kid. That's why Deadman is a spirit in DCU Presents comic, while in Flashpoint he's a circus performer. That's why Bruce Wayne is mentioned in the solicits for the new Batman & Robin series, oh wait, in the Flashpoint Universe Thomas Wayne is Batman and Bruce is dead! And Superman happens to be wearing overalls in the Action Comics #1 cover, just because it's the first set of clothes he stumbled upon while escaping the government, he's totally not wearing them out of memory of his hometown of Smallville.
Puh-lease, the only thing Dan Didio has said about Superman is that Lois and Clark's marriage is going to be reexamined.

Sooo their saying the retailers should be excited because they are going to be in part cut out by selling comics digitally the same day. I am sure they are really excited. Same as a movie theater would be if blue ray version was coming out of a movie the same day.

Dont like Superboyerrr mans look. Hes been 30 something since the well the 30s
