God, I hate it when people say "the REAL x or y". Just because you prefer that incarnation doesn't mean it's the only one that matters.

But of course, who cares what I think?

@staypuffed

much agreed. Can't we all just be glad they're "retroing" all the past heroes for something truly special. I feel as though the next 2 yrs of DC will be very interesting. More than I can say for marvel if they don't get their shit together

89 Batmobile! Awesome.

I will definitely be picking up Len Wein and Kelley Jones' Swamp Thing and Marv Wolfman and Nicola Scott's Teen Titans.
With this and the Secret Wars Reboot over at Marvel, it looks like next year wil be a very interesting time for comics.
Superheroes are leaving NY. This is quite a momentous event in the history of modern mythology. So it seems apt that both companies' events have pretty much the same premise. A premise that allows us to celebrate some of the high points in the history of superhero comics. Like a clip show at the end of a TV series.

Oh come on. By that logic you should be complaining about this being the "real" Captain America...

even though nowadays he looks like this

These characters have been evolving for decades.

It's not like if you show somebody a picture of Nu52 Superman they'll say, "Who's that??"
Does he wear blue? Yeah. Does he have the S? Yeah. The cape? Yeah.

Same with Cap. He has the star, the shield, the red/white/blue. He's the same character, just with a shiny new aesthetic.
They're both just as recognizable as ever

I'm inclined to agree with @DexterDouglas, the pre New 52 characters/costumes are just better and more iconic. I will agree that New 52 had some stuff worth keeping, Batwoman comes to mind. Also I prefer the pure silver look for Wonder Woman, never liked the silver and gold look.
