The LA Times Hero Complex has gotten an exclusive first look of Superman in the upcoming DC reboot of Action Comics. Superman, seen here sporting blue jeans and a t-shirt, is a little different then the shot we saw from the rebooted self title. There is no word on if this will be his costume for the title or if they will incorporate the look we saw a couple days ago. Acclaimed writer Grant Morrison will be handling writing duties while up and coming artist Ralph “Rags” Morales will draw The Man of Steel.

What do you guys think? Is this a shot of Superman in Smallvile pre Super suit? Or do you think this is the direction they are going to go with for Action Comics. As usual leave your comments below.

The cover teases at Superman's past not his new costume just a great image.

When Morrison took over Batman five years ago he slowly moved Batman out of this Dark Knight Returns obsessed era into something bigger and better. For to long now Superman has suffered too and I hope Morrison does the same for the character.

Judging from DC's description it is a story that takes place in the past.

"This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero."

Not his new costume he probably used this before the tights.

"Grant Morrison writing Superman?
THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE!!!! "

Cool! So then next we get the young Superman as CEO of his new "Men of Steel, Ltd" financial venture while he brings back every silly Silver Age element that was retconned out previously, to show how cool and original he really can be! Right? AWESOME!

/sarcasm

Seriously, Grant Morrison needs to leave mainstream books and never come back. Please. Someone make it happen.

First Morrison ruined Batman now Superman, poor DC.

@TheDemonHunter

Batman making a global corporation makes sense since he is a business man and has a bunch of partners and sidekicks. It was not just the Silver Age it was all Batman history that mattered.

Putting the writer of the most praised Superman title in ten years on the regular monthly is the smart thing to do.

@AlReg -- Your point would be valid, except for the point that it was an invalid as Morrison's take on Batman. Not to mention the fact that he was retreading a botched X-Men storyline he used to inflict his brand of fiction on them. Batman is not merely some business man with a bunch of sidekicks. He's arguably the least trusting, most paranoid, and most secretive superhero in DC's world. Historically, he has an insanely small circle of people who are let even partway through the door into his life. That's not grounds to franchise the cape and cowl. It made no sense. At all. Not even a little.

@WittySupername -- Morrison is not a crazy drug fueled witch. I've dated enough of those to know that most would be insulted to be compared that way ;-)

@TheDemonHunter

Batman is more social then he seems he's teamed with more superheroes than any other since the sixties there is a whole show like that. He also reaches out to kids and teaches them I would think being paranoid with a limited social circle is the popular exception and not the rule. Batman Inc sounds just like two ideas of Batman in one.

Looking at Morrison's past work with Superman putting him on the character is the right thing to do.

I like that Morrison will essentially write the history of the nuDCU through the story of the world's first superhero (in this new timeline). It has great potential.

It might be interesting, I might actually try to purchase this. I like the artwork and people are saying that Morrison is a great writer.

If he's dressed like that, why does he need a cape? They might as well have let him wear a jacket or an unbuttoned red flannel shirt.
