DC Comics has just announced a
Justice League vs Suicide Squad miniseries set to be published this Winter. While speaking to The Wall Street Journal about the success of
DC Rebirth,
DC Comics co-Publishers, Dan DiDio and Jim Lee revealed that
Task Force X will be taking on the JL this December as part of a crossover miniseries. Check out the teaser art below from Jason Fabok.
The miniseries will last for six issues, with two released in December and four in January. Joshua Williamson will be writing the series, though he adds Geoff Johns had a hand in its development.
WSJ describes the series as, "
Batman questioning the need for Waller’s Task Force X in a world where the Justice League already exists." Williamson added, "[
Batman] decides to put a stop to it." He also adds that while Batman and Amanda Waller are the focus, the series will also spotlight Killer Frost, Deadshot and an unspecified common enemy shared between the two teams. Also of note is that reveal that the JLA will be returning in February, partly as a result of the JL vs Suicide Squad conclusion.
While it wasn't touched on in the article,
Batman is forming his own Suicide Squad from his Rogue's Gallery this Fall in his solo-title from Tom King and the art team of Matt Banning and David Finch. Perhaps something goes awry that makes The Dark Knight decide to take down the entire Taskforce X program?
