BOOM! Studios, DC Comics, and Twentieth Century Fox have teamed up to bring together two celebrated pop culture properties in a historic comics crossover event when the talking simians of the Planet of the Apes meet the Emerald Crusaders of the Green Lantern Corps. Written by Robbie Thompson (Silk) and Justin Jordan (Green Lantern), and illustrated by Barnaby Bagenda (The Omega Men), Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern debuts February 1st, 2017 as a six-issue monthly limited series.

"We've been having endless amounts of fun collaborating with our friends at DC Entertainment and this new crossover only ups the ante," said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon today. "Both Planet of the Apes and Green Lantern boast decades of entertaining stories and dozens of fan-favorite characters. The result of crossing over these two incredible franchises is an ambitious, epic story that's brimming with one of the most enjoyable cast of characters in all of comics."

Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern is a great idea, and it's honestly kind of surprising that it's taken this long to become a reality. As you can see from the artwork below, the companies are having a lot of fun putting the event together, but who will come out on top? We'll just have to wait and see.

@thor2273 - Yeah. I had a bit of a chuckle when I read here the author saying it's surprising this crossover hadn't happened before. It's really not surprising. Because it's weird.

@thor2273 - would have made more sense if they had used flash, maybe have flash and grodd be transported to the planet of the apes universe, and grodd tries to overthrow the ape government and take control

wonder why they used Green Lantern, when they crossed over with star trek it made sense, but if your crossing over with planet of the apes, why not use the Flash, have the planet of the apes be an alternate timeline, or maybe connect it to Grodd
