COMICS: New Details On The Rebooted DC Titles And Their Timelines!

At the DC Retailer Roadshow this past Friday, some new details about the status of some of the relaunched DC titles, including the fact that Action Comics is set in the past, have emerged! Check it out...

Thanks to Bleeding Cool, we have some more details about the relaunched DC Universe. As you can see from the information below, some of the titles being released this September won't be complete reboots while others will. Even more surprising is the news that a handful of comic books will actually be set in the past, exploring the pasts of both the Justice League and Superman.

Most of the released solicitation images for the DC Relaunch are not the covers for the first issue – so look forward to all those being announced soon as well.

Action Comics and Justice League are set in the past, the Green Lantern, Batman and LSH books are all continuing without a reboot. DCU Presents, Green Arrow and Hawkman are picking up where Brightest Day left off.

But for everything else, yes, it will be more of a reboot/restart. They are basically keeping the books going that were financially successful for them and restarting everything else.

The Flashpoint books were also being done by teams not being used in the reboot to help give those guys more time.

What do you guys make of all this? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place! To read a few more details about DC's plans with the relaunch of their comic book universe, simply click on the link below to head on over to the site.

This sounds ridiculously confusing!

It seems like they don't even know what they're doing. They're reboots, but they're keeping continuity, and they're starting from the past, but set during the current time period, with characters that are older than they originally started...yet some will have no even existed yet.

Makes a TON of sense lol

Knew it. Would've been retarded to start over GL when the current run is doing so well.

JL will be set in the past? Interesting...

The Legion of superheroes are popular? It took me like a minute to figure out what LSH stood for. I never liked them, but, hey, I guess I'm more of a loner on that opinion.

Like I said from the beginning - This smells of WB's hands all over it. They're the only ones who benefit (in their heads) from this DCU reboot. It's unfortunate that DC has basically been reduced to WB bitch. Sad, sad, sad.

DC is totally failing right now, and I'm a huge DC fanboy. Green Lantern has flopped (regardless of anyone's opinion, it's probably not making back most of that $300mil investment), and this whole DC-comic-reboot/not-reboot makes zero sense. I hate to say it, but Marvel is kicking DC's ass.

@SugarYumYum: Only the first storyline. in the past. It will be when the team first formed. In other words, it's an origin

This would appear to be confusing. So not only do the fans of DC have "52 parallel universes" with which to contend, but they must also accept multiple time frames as well?

@golden123- Then I will avoid the Justice League "reboot."

Geoff Johns has crossed the line, this man is out of control

I will say this. I love both. DC and Marvel. I'm not one of those people that only likes one for some reason. I love both. But gun-to-my-head, I am more of a DC guy. I cannot deny that I enjoy these characters and the universe a little bit more.

That said, any DC fan would be out of their mind to say the DCU of today makes any sense. Crisis after crisis, time travel, parallel universes, they keep spaghettiing it together and it has become this Frankenstein piece of shyt that makes no sense and is hard to understand for newcomers, and even some veterans.

What was needed was a strategic reboot. A GOOD reboot that got rid of the stupid things, the mistakes, and things that dont make sense.

What they are doing sounds like, at least right now, the complete opposite of what is needed. They have found a way to make it worse. The only person I can blame is Geoff Johns. Yes I know it's more than one person's decision, but if you look at the last 5 years of DCU, behind every reboot, re-imagining, retcon,re-something, when you look, Johns is always the man behind it.

As someone who has only read the Batman books and was hoping to really get into the DCU... this is hella confusing.

the comics i don't have an issue,i think this is for the best,as long as the basics are maintained like batman is bruce wayne and clak kent is superman etc.they are continuing the major stories, the once people actually bought, only others are rebooted so i don't think any harm will come from this, only good stories

but sad about GL,i thought it was a decent movie but clearly the opening weekend isn't huge and that may well be the end of GL and other dc hero movies, sad was looking forward to GL,flash and aquaman

As a comic fan! This makes me very sad! I Love Marvel and only liked DC! But to see this art form exploited and trashed the way it is in DC/WB can only mean that Geoff Johns is a saboteur planted by Marvel/Disney! I think that Bat-man will cross over to Marvel and after that they can burn all DC's lame and stupid heroes to the ground, with their stupid company! MAKE MINE MARVEL!!!! DC sucks!!!! But it still sad as a comic fan!!!

Ok, since the first JL is set in the past, can one assume that Superman and Wonder Woman will be older in the present day stories? I have a problem with Superman looking the same age as Superboy.

Duh. This is what I have been saying since they first showed some artwork. They look like they are in their early twenties so of course Superman isn't married. They've turned the clock back.

Something else I've been saying since then: FAIL! I'm going to be saving a LOT of money on my weekly comic book bill.

I don't buy comic books, I would buy a graphic novel once or twice a year if I've heard a lot of good things about it or if it just looks interesting to me. But as a fan of the characters, this just doesn't sound or seem right.

First their movies bomb - all except Batman thanks to Nolan - and now their comics are gonna take a turn for the worse.

DC is really digging themselves into a really deep hole and it is gonna take at least 10 years to get back over the hump. They need some serious help.

God!! Does DC get off on messing with their fanbase or something? That was the most confusing thing ever!!

God, this is such a stupid idea. The thing that makes me hate comics most are the constant reboots/resurrections. Pure suckage.

Wipe out everything that happened before Infinity Crisis and Identity Crisis and Final crisis then carry on from there!

Quite simply D.C had too many Crisis which is why there's nothing left in the aftermath but shite!

That's horrible! Reboot some titles but not other? You think D.C would have learned from Marvel by now and create an "Ultimate" timeline for all the superheroes...and what's with the superman armor-esque outfit? tsk tsk tsk, I really hate the new superman costume =(

All I care about is if they're good stories. If they're good stories, I don't care how confusing the overall continuity is.

Personally, though, despite me preferring DC's characters and universe more, I do agree that on average, and this seems to be in every aspect, Marvel has more good stuff than DC has. Comics, movies, video games, whatever. However, DC's best is on a far different level than Marvel's best. In every aspect. You look at what is considered the best of everything comic book related, and it usually comes from DC.

Also i might add how some people were warming up to the idea, and then DC just keeps on spouting out news that keeps turning the fans they would have had away.

I thought this was gonna be like an ULTIMATE DC (ULTIMATE MARVEL).
I would like to see that. Just kinda twist the origin story around. I was really excited about this project, and now I'm disappointed.
