One can only imagine what made Superman change into this less heroic-looking appearance. But from the Character Design Notes on the pic, it states "Very drawn, tired look from lack of sun exposure." I'm guessing Supes' being withdrawn from the sun somehow plays a significant part in the storyline. But we shall see in the upcoming issues.

this is Flashpoint oriented Superman aka PROJECT SUPERMAN, those reading PROJECT SUPERMAN know why/can assume why he looks like that cause of the story told in that issue also it's very Supreme Power-ish with military involved. They keep him under wraps cuz of what happened/happens in the tiein Project Superman

So if you're freaking out, you're freaking out for no reason, this isnt the Superman that will be in the relaunch/reboot.

@mbembet....technically the Marvel version of Geoff Johns would be Brian Michael Bendis, both have many titles at once and they are good writers with little pay off. Mark Millar works mostly with Marvel now but he has fun writing stories

This is from Flashpoint #3. Not the tie-in.

Oh, what a great idea. Make Superman look like a teenage goth. He looks like the goth kid from South Park.

He looks like shit......but that's the point.

To everyone bitching and complaining remember ppl, his story in Flashpoint is the exact reason why the Kent's hid him from the world in the first place, this is what would have happened to Superman if he was found by the Military instead of good hearted ppl like the Kents.

Still tho, as a life long Superman fan, alternate time line or not, it still hurts to see him like that :(

@stingerman: The commenters are aware of that, but there is a reason the tie-ins are called tie-ins. They tie-in to the main story and explain what is going on.
