COMICS: Scott Snyder Has Been Confirmed To Write JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE After DARK NIGHTS: METAL

The exciting announcement that we've all been waiting for has finally arrived, as it's now been confirmed that Scott Snyder will officially be the writer for the upcoming Justice League: No Justice series!

A report by IGN reveals that Scott Snyder will be handling the new Justice League series. Per the report, the end of Snyder's current run on Dark Nights: Metal in March will serve as a setting of the stage for the highly-anticpated miniseries Justice League: No Justice that we'll see hit shelves in May.

The miniseries, which was hinted at in Batman: Lost, will see Brainiac alert the League to an upcoming alien threat, requiring the need to expand membership and separate into splinter groups. Judging by the description, it seems as though it will have shades of Cosmic Odyssey, with both heroes and villains coming together to save other planets from a larger galactic threat.

Furthermore, this will lead to several different stories for Justice League, which will be written by Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Josh Williamson. Snyder stated to IGN the following:

We thought we knew the entire map of the DC Cosmos. We thought we had explores all there was to explore. But now we know that all this time the Multiverse was nothing but a fishbowl, and now we've been dumped into the ocean, unleashing terrifying new threats, and wondrous new possibilities. Metal opened up channels of storytelling that Francis, James, Joshua and I are excited to explore in a big way. When we're finished, fans will never look at the Justice League in the same way again.

Here's the official press release in full:

ACCLAIMED WRITERS SCOTT SNYDER, JAMES TYNION IV AND JOSHUA WILLIAMSON JOIN FORCES THIS MAY FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE

Artist Francis Manapul Delivers Epic Action Featuring
The World’s Greatest Super-Heroes

Weekly Four-Issue Miniseries Follows Events from the Cataclysmic Conclusion of
DARK NIGHTS: METAL

(BURBANK, CA) – (January 26, 2018) – At the conclusion of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo’s DARK NIGHTS: METAL (issue #6 on sale March 14), the bestselling BATMAN talent team will shake the DC Universe to its deepest foundations and do something that even the most passionate fans will characterize as unimaginable and utterly audacious.

This event sets the stage for even more bold and daring storytelling, as Snyder, along with co-writers James Tynion IV (DETECTIVE COMICS) and Joshua Williamson (THE FLASH, Vertigo’s DEATHBED) plus all-star artist Francis Manapul (TRINITY) take readers on an adventure that will break the very boundaries of the DC Universe in JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE, a four-issue weekly miniseries, beginning May 9.

“We thought we knew the entire map of the DC cosmos,” says Snyder. “We thought we had explored all there was to explore. But now we know that all this time the Multiverse was nothing but a fishbowl, and now we’ve been dumped into the ocean, unleashing terrifying new threats, and wondrous new possibilities. METAL opened up channels of storytelling that Francis, James, Joshua and I are excited to explore in a big way. When we’re finished, fans will never look at the Justice League in the same way again.”

In this four-issue miniseries, the super-villain Brainiac arrives on Earth with a dire warning for the Justice League: there’s a threat coming to destroy Earth, one that the heroes are ill-equipped to handle. Brainiac thinks he holds the key to victory, but it means combining members of the League with some of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe and sending them into battle against this extinction-level menace. The stakes are at their absolute highest; if one of these teams fail. It’s game over.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE promises to deliver over-the-top blockbuster action, courtesy of artist Francis Manapul.

“I’m laying out the biggest action of my life,” says Manapul. “The Justice League realizes that they need to expand their reach to become something bigger than they have ever been before. If you thought my work for JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARKSEID WAR was huge, I’m taking the League to the edge of the cosmos with NO JUSTICE. Anyone who has asked for Harley Quinn, Martian Manhunter, Starfire, Zatanna, the Atom, Raven, or Doctor Fate to be in their personal Justice League will stand up and cheer.”

This can’t-miss miniseries sets the stage for a “family” of Justice League titles, beginning in June, headlined by Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE with additional titles written by James Tynion IV, Joshua Williamson and more in the coming months.

This sounds great! I absolutely loved his Batman run, especiallly the court of the owls!

Snyder's Batman run is legendary, and Dark Nights: Metal has been just the best kind of insanity, so seeing him take on Justice League is gonna be cool.
Plus, the description for this event sounds great to me.

@DentonKnight - Especially considering the Justice League hasn't had a decent writer since Johns' run ended.

Sounds like DC is gonna have another hit on their hands. Never thought I'd see Starro in the JL.

I hope Snyder brings in some horror elements for this like he did at the beginning of his Batman run.

Sounds great but Harley Quinn as part of the justice league?

Also not really feeling Brainiac's new tentacle phase.

Snyder teaming-up with Tynion IV, holy crap, Tynion's work on Detective Comics has been phenomenal. My favorite Rebirth title.

New 52 Batman is my favorite comic run ever. One of the first comics I bought was the court of owls trade. Death of the family is my favorite Batman story.

After bvs, I took a long break from DC comics. I enjoyed Justice League so much, I said [frick]it and ordered some new DC.

I never finished Scott snuder’s Batman. I’m on issue 49. Never would’ve guessed Jim would be such a great Batman. Bruce’s little post-endgame journey has been absolutely beautiful.

After Batman, my favorite DC comics to read are Justice League.

I am so stoked for this.

@BloodyBed - I thought New 52 Justice League was amazing. That last Darkseid War event was great. Since then, Justice League Rebirth has been horrible. A kid hacking the Batcave, crashing the Watchtower on Earth with his father's iPad? Are you kidding me?

HOLY SHIT, this is going to be awesome!

Also, can someone explain to me why they got an artist to write justice league rebirth?

The reviews for it aren’t too hot, which really [frick]ing bums me out. Gotta read it anyways, but not looking forward to it.

@BloodyBed - Bryan Hitch's run wasn't too good, but Priest's has been pretty cool.

DC is walking backwards, over half of this mess sounds like a bad, uninteresting fit. After 10 years of monthly subscriptions and life long of collecting, it looks like my time as a DC fanboy is close to ending.

DENNISsystem - 1/27/2018, 12:39 PM
@duncboy - then you haven’t been reading. Snyder consistently delivers, so he’s earned the benefit of the doubt. Plus: Martian Manhunter back in the league?!? How can you as a comic fan NOT be excited about that?!?
duncboy
duncboy - 1/27/2018, 7:54 PM
@DENNISsystem - i'll give you that the Superman team is f-ing awesome and super interesting, though I'm curious how Starro plays a part. I also agree Martain Mamhunter is great - honestly one of my top 5 DC characters along with Superman, Swamp Thing, Robin(Damian), and Aquaman for what it's worth. But I cannot make sense of some of these concepts (Batman is space?!). And I hate Hate HATE Superman's red trunks.

And to respond; I'd bet I read more comics than you. What's your number of monthly subscriptions? I'm at about 32 i think last time I checked, most of which is DC.
duncboy
duncboy - 1/27/2018, 7:56 PM
@duncboy - typos - Manhunter not Mamhunter, Batman in space not Batman is space.

I think DC needs to do a better job of keeping each character in their own lane and only cross over where it's more logical. For example, Wonder Woman's team makes some sense too...just not in space
TexasAvenger
TexasAvenger - 1/27/2018, 6:45 AM
Justice League: No Justice is totally not a rip off of Avengers: No Surrender. Right DC?
newmutantsRETURNS
newmutantsRETURNS - 1/27/2018, 7:04 AM
@TexasAvenger - Probably is...but DC will still do it better, Marvel comics is in shambles...
TexasAvenger
TexasAvenger - 1/27/2018, 7:10 AM
@newmutantsRETURNS - Eh they've both had some good stuff and duds. The thing with Marvel tho is that their bigger characters' books aren't all that right now. Secret Warriors, Thanos, and Daredevil are all great.
