DC Relaunch: Swamp Thing & Animal Man

DC Relaunch: Swamp Thing & Animal Man

Two of my personal favorite DC characters will be getting the relaunch treatment as part of the "Dark" line of comics. Check out the new looks for both on the covers for their upcoming #1st issues...

Swamp Thing #1 will be brought to us by Scott Snyder with Yannick Paquette on art. I'm very excited for this as Alec Holland was recently brought back into the main DCU and it will be interesting to see how the "Avatar Of Nature" interacts with the superheroes once again. DC fans will probably know Snyder's work on Detective Comics as being pretty great. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with Swamp Thing.

Animal Man #1 by Jeff Lemire with art by Travel Foreman and Dan Green. I have been a big fan of this guy since Grant Morrison's much loved run and now that Lemire(Superboy, Sweet Tooth) is taking on writing duties I think we could be in for something special.

Animal Man has the "V" on his pants like everyone else has on their collars.

You can pick out the kiddies on this site if they haven't heard of Animal Man.

Animal Man is a super-hero who can use the abilities of any animal. His powers are gained from tapping into the morphogenic field, giving him the power of any animal on the planet and sometimes the universe.

In his secret identity he is a stuntman, with a wife named Ellen and two children Cliff and Maxine living in San Diego. He has been a member of the Forgotten Heroes and Justice League Europe. Animal Man was created by Dave Wood and Carmine Infantino, first appearing in Strange Adventures #180.

Animal Man's been one of my favorite DC guys for a while now, and by the looks of that cover of him, he's gonna be put through some tough times, like his Grant Morrison days.

@marvel72 yes he did my friend and it was surprisingly good. Thats the first time I had ever read anything about him and I enjoyed it a lot.
I had read somewhere that whenever writers come up with stories that dont exactly fit with what the higher ups want for the more popular characters that they end up adapting it to Animal Man and thats how Morrison got on there. Apparently AM has some good reads but other than 52 ive never read anything...

Swamp Thing and Man-Thing were created by the same guys who went to bolth comic book companies at the same time. Man-Thing was published first and so all my love goes to him. I think the horror spooky tital should stay with Man-Thing, it is weird to think of Swamp Thing as a horror tital. I always pictured him as a "Beauty and the Beast" type guy.
