Tom King's (Batman, Mister Miracle) upcoming mini-series Heroes In Crisis may follow the same naming conventions as such landmark storylines as Crisis on Infinite Earths and Final Crisis, but it promises to be a heavier story than what some DC Comics readers may be used to, posing the question of what it truly takes to be a superhero. Billed as a murder mystery, it's set in the aftermath of a mass shooting of a rehabilitation centre set up by DC's Trinity (Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman), intended to treat superheroes who suffer from PTSD. As such, DC Comics has just revealed three new variant covers for the first issue, showcasing the Trinity during their own worst hour. Featuring artwork from Ryan Sook, these include Batman's defeat at the hands of Bane, the death of Superman, and Wonder Woman's killing of Maxwell Lord. The series will run seven issues, beginning 26 September.

There’s a new kind of crisis threatening the heroes of the DC Universe, ripped from real-world headlines by C.I.A.-operative-turned-comics-writer Tom King: How does a superhero handle PTSD? Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra-secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been
traumatized by crime-fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well-known operators as the prime suspects: Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and
Batman to investigate—but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition?

Death of Superman,
Bane breaking Batman's back,
Wondy killing a supervillain?

One of these things is not like teh other.

I guess this doesn't count anymore, then:

Because this was the Wonder Woman version of The Death and Return of Supermanand the Knights Trilogy.
