The DC Rebirth is soon upon us, and a new spoiler has been revealed, and it’s possibly one of the craziest things DC has ever done. Final warning, this article contains MASSIVE SPOILERS!

According to a leak from Reddit (don’t worry, they have actual leaked panels to prove it!), there are now three Jokers and Wally West and the original JSA are back. There is another as well, and prepare yourself here…

Essentially Doctor Manhattan is the reason for the new earth of DC Rebirth. Yup, you read that right. After leaving Earth at the end of Watchmen, he decides to make a new Earth, and in it are the great DC legends. (For a more in depth analysis read Bleeding Cool’s article HERE).

What do you think? Is this a decision that ruins the legacy of Watchmen, or are you alright with it? Sound off  below!

DC Rebirth Begins May 25th.

I call theory. Overall I don't think dc comics owns watchmen. I mean characters are based off of dc heroes. (Doctor Manhattan-captain atom, Rorschach-the question.)

@Thaxander12 - As long as DC keeps Watchmen in print, the rights will never revert to Moore.

Watchmen is a deconstructionist take on superheroes where Moore pretty much actively disdains the nature of superheroes. So why is it gonna be the reason for the DC universe being created? It makes zero [frick]ing sense. ZERO.

It's like taking Austin Powers, also a deconstructionist take, and saying he's in the same universe as James Bond. It's just stupid.

@BatmanHeisenberg - Read before Watchmen, specifically issue 4. It planted the seed for this idea. So i'd say it does make some kind of sense that it would be manhatten who created the universe, didn't he say that's what he was going to do at the end of watchmen anyway? At least see what kind of stories they do with it before shitting on it.

Then again look who i'm talking too.

@Mrcool210 - I won't contribute to Before Watchmen, not now, probably never. Watchmen is a work that should stand on it's own. It shouldn't being given a prequel, or be the [frick]ing reason for the DC Universe.

Then again, you probably can't look past the surface and see literary themes and how it's a deconstructionist take. Eh.

@BatmanHeisenberg - I've read Watchmen, I know excactly what it's going for with its themes and ideas. But just because it is that doesn't mean more can't be done with it, a story like this doesn't negate watchmen all of a sudden, if anything this adds new ideas into the pot, find new ways to deconstruct the genre even more. A work can still stand on its own, even if sequels or prequels are added in later. I doubt these stories will do too much to really change the main watchmen story. If they do that that's a fair enough reason to get angry.

All I'm saying at least wait and see, try to see the possibilities with a story like this, unlike a story that just brings a character back to life this is a way to develop more characters and bring new interesting stories to them. I guess what i'm saying is..
