The Only Thing The DCEU Needs To Fix

To start out, I would like to apologize for this article. I don't have the time to make it look nice and put pictures in, but I would like to share an opinion with you all and see what you think.

That being said, I would also like to preface this article by disclosing that I am partial to Marvel, however, I have been hoping for the DCEU to succeed because I just want to see good movies.

Now, to the good stuff.

Everyday, I see you fight on this board about how the DCEU movies suck and Marvel is better and why some people don't agree with that. The truth of the matter is that movies are subjective and while they can be compared, no one can tell you what you liked better.

The general trend that I have seen is that almost all the MCU films have done at least ok both critically and financially. Basically, people like Marvel movies and the characters in them. DC has been successful in the past (Dark Knight Trilogy) but the DCEU has got off to a rough start critically. The reception to MOS was lukewarm, BVS got ripped to shreds, and SS got a "meh" reaction.

People like to make excuses as to why the critical reception was low and why the DCEU films are actually great.

But none of that matters. Bad villians, weak plot lines, lack of humor/forced humor, Brooding Superman, or a Batman who kills. These are all things I have heard as reasons why the DCEU is not good and Marvel has made similiar mistakes too. But thats just it. These aren't the reasons why a movie is bad.

It comes down to one very simple thing.

DCEU movies are BORING!!!!!

Now, say what you will about Marvel movies, even consensus "bad" ones like IM2 or Thor 2. But just as no movie is perfect, and these seem to have more flaws than the other MCU films, they are still enjoyable to rewatch.

MOS is ok, but I found myself sitting in BvS wondering when something cool was going to happen. Even the fight scenes were just puching. The sonic device Batman used on Superman was kind of cool, but there was literally no jaw-dropping, "this is awesome" moment. In suicide squad, I was so bored that I was really hoping it was almost over half the time.

Now of course, this is my opinion, but honestly we go to the movies to be entertained. We can forgive a bad plot if we have fun. Great villians are awesome, but a bad one won't bog down a film if awesome things are happening and you have a smile on your face.

That's It. Be entertaining. You don't have to find the perfect tone, the perfect plot line, the perfect way to depict your characters. You will never please everyone, but what you can do is make something either has people laughing, or on the edge of their seat, or amazed at what just happened.

I would disagree, and say batman's warehouse fight was pretty frigging awesome.

@LordHarryLatts - While I Agree, that was one scene and it was in the trailers. Would have had more of an impact if it was saved for the film. And like I said, it's a collection of these moments that make a good movie.
