COMICS: Will Spider-Man Die In February, 2011?

He will be back.. Remember no one in comics stays dead except Uncle Ben.

its just a cheap gimmick to sell more comics just like death of superman,captain america,batman & now spider-man.

Superhero comics need to seriously get away from the revolving door of death. I don't even see how it can sell books now that everyone knows no one stays dead.

if a character stays dead, then it would be one thing, because everyone would want the last book that the character will be in. but whats the point of having a book with the death of a popular character, if you KNOW that character will be back in a few years. it really pisses me off, and has turned me off to mainstream superhero books these days.

They just use deaths for shock value, and then have to come up with some ridiculous way to bring that character back to life.

look at Cap's death. His death was done better and more realistically than any other character in the history of comics, then they cheapened the whole thing by coming up with the magic bullet, soul stuck in time nonsense.

i'm so tired of it. i hope these writers don't think they're doing anything ballsy when they kill these icons. they aren't. everyone knows they'll be back. if anything, it makes the writer LESS talented by doing something so unoriginal. Can't think of a story to do with a character? hey, just kill them off. we can always bring them back later...so lame.

wtf, why does writers keep killing characters? We all know they will come back at some point, so why waste time in killing them? Retarded move this comic book.

it was mentioned in comic con that after BND is over a new spidey will take over because they can't do anything else with peter parker anymore. lame... unless it is ben reilly and works side by side with peter.

no they kill captain America and then he came back and then they announce a film.

Why in the blue hell are they killing off another big name character? This must be the the go-to storyline when you're out of ideas. Spiderman's books have been lacking lately, and they're desperate.

Its such a stupid formula that literally everyone uses. 1) Kill your main character 2) Put someone else(a b-list character) in costume to "carry on the mantle" 3) Bring main character back from the dead in some idiotic way, bascially saying they were never dead in the first place.

Apparently, comic book writers are totally out of ideas. Maybe its time to wipe the slate clean, and bring in a bunch of brand new writers. I'm more than willing to write some books for you, Joey Q.... Call me....

The only way someone should be able to be brought back to life is if someone gets a hold of the infinity gauntlet , kind of like a dragon ball thing .

Dude, Uncle Ben should come back as Winter Soldier 2, or we find out he is another of Wolverine's children, who has his Mutant gene kick in only as a senior citizen. Uncle Ben by day, The Creepy Uncle by night!!!

I'm sure that there will be a twist to this somehow. Sort of how they advertised the death of Tony Stark before that "Stark Disassembled" storyline...he didnt die! Deaths in comic books are more often bad than good but I like it when they end up benefiting the character, or other characters, in the long run regardless of how long they stay dead for! (Steve Rogers dying making way for all those excellent Bucky storylines for example!)

My guess is that Spider-Man will not be gone for long, if at all. Dan Slott is only just starting this whole new "Big Time" storyline (something I'm very excited for) and I dont see Marvel getting rid of Peter Parker with a movie not too far away! Despite some pretty awful idead Marvel have had when it comes to Spider-Man recently ("One More Day" and "One Moment In Time" being the prime examples) I like what they've done with the character and Amazing remains my favourite comic book.

They'd better not actually kill or replace him though. Black Panther replacing Daredevil is bad enough after that shitty Shadowland fiasco, so I dont want to see the same thing happen here! Plus, Marvel already cheapened the death of Spider-Man during "The Other". That's not something we need to see happen again either IMO.

If there's one thing I'd like to see, it would be Aunt May, Black Cat and Norman Osborn remembering that Peter is Spider-Man. [frick] the marriage, that's what pissed me off most about "Brand New Day"!

And am I the only one who feels like Harry has been a wasted character since his return? I was overjoyed to see him back, but they've really not done too many (interesting) things with him. :(

It doesn't say death of Peter Parker, and what I've heard there will be a new Venom.

Ya, I think Harry's been pretty wasted too. The problem with having so many writers/art teams and getting the book out 3 times a month, is that I think they got in over their heads and were drowning a bit story wise. Some things got lost,left aside, or fell through the cracks. The one thing I hope for Big Time, is that having only one writer will solidify the story telling.

IMO, if they wanted the marriage out of the Spidey books so badly, then all they had to do was continue on with the logical continuation of the story they were telling before OMD. Let May die, let Peter go on the run and into hiding. Circumstances probably would have led down a path to MJ and Pete splitting up in some way anyway. Yes the writing would have had a lot more serious tone for a while longer, but, let the flow of the writing work. They could have eventually gotten to a point where they are now, just in a different way and taken longer to do it. But, without the deal with the devil.

With BND, I do like Carli,the fact that Harry is back (but that makes that great issue of Spectacular less impactive where he dies),Mr Negative is really interesting. Didn't like Vin too much, but loved the dynamic with Michelle. I could do without the really lame Freak and Menace.

Yes, I'd like to see May and Black Cat remember Peter's identity, but not Norman. With him, I'd like to see a "I know something's not right with this and I'm going to figure it out." type situation, bring some intrigue to it.

I think spidey will die but not peter parker, probably he's that new venom...obviously this will only continue for some issue...
