My opinion on what the future of Marvel Movies should do

I have loved the Marvel movies thus far. Iron Man was amazing and the big build up to the Avengers started in a short after credits scene that blew our minds. The movies that followed carried on the torch further building upon the MCU that we know now. The Avengers is now only months away and there is no more build up to this monumental occasion. While many questions are yet to be anwered about the upcoming movie itself, my main focus is on the future of MCU. Of course there will be sequels to all of the tent poll franchises already made but what about the other Marvel characters yet to get movies of there own? This article will show my opinion on the movies others have suggested as well as some that people may have forgotten.

Movies Marvel Shouldn't Make:

Many of you will disagree with most of the movies I will put in this section but I feel that these movies just wouldn't work and would set back Marvel Studios. This is definitely one of them. He is extremely unknown, has very odd villains, and would be very hard to cast/ sell to the general public. The only way this character would work is if he was in a Heroes For Hire movie with Iron Fist. No exclusions

Now a lot of people will have my head for this one but in my opinion this movie would not work very well. He isn't a very interesting character power wise and would be the hardest character to date to sell. His inclusion to the MCU is necessary though, but not in a solo movie. He could be added in the Avengers or Black Panther movie. Wasp would also be lovely to see but should be introduced in the same way as Ant Man

Hear me out on this one before judging me. Agents of Shield movie would be a horrible move for Marvel just for the reason that this movie would focus only on characters that could be saved for the second Avengers movie or, like many are already, be introduced in the Avengers. It already seems that Shield agents will be a main influence on the Avengers and Marvel Universe as a whole, so why should they get their own movie. Too much of these characters would be over kill.

I will group these two in the same category only due to the graphic nature of these two characters. Disney will not let Marvel produce a rated R movie with their name attached to it. I would be very surprised if they did. I am a firm believer that if these two movies are to be made that they should be Rated R. Nothing less would work well. Remember, these two aren't Batman. They kill a lot and having the main character kill in a major Disney movie wouldn't go over well.

This is the one more above all others that I am against. War Machine would be such a horrible idea in my opinion due to the fact that his character is a direct copy of Iron Man, with minor character differences. He would not be able to carry his own movie and would most likely have a cameo of Tony Stark and if that was the case then just save it for Iron Man 3. Yes, an Iron War movie would be cool but then again they kind of already did that.

Movies Marvel Should Make:

With the power of the Power Cosmos and a vast, interestingly unique story and power set, Dr. Strange would be a perfect way of continuing with these great Marvel Movies. Since Dr. Strange is based in a more mystical realm, Harry Potter fans and fans of great CGI would love this movie. The only draw back is that this character isnt well known but with the hype of the Avengers, this film would do very well with the right director and lead actor.

This one is a given. Black Panther has seemingly been alluded to from Iron Man 2 to Captain America. He would be a great way to set up for an Avengers sequel by adding another character to the roster. He is more important than Dr. Strange in the fact that Black Panther is a well known Avenger, although Strange has worked with them before. The African/ Wakandan aspect of this movie would be incredible. The technology shown in this movie would also be a treat to see, as well as explaining Captain America's shield being made of Vibranium.

Many people may feel like this one is a given but there has yet to be any word about a sequel to The Incredible Hulk. I am against the TV show that is being made strictly due to the fact that a CG Hulk takes money, a lot of money and TV budgets wouldn't work well for that. I would love to see Hulk flushed out with his villains on the big screen more and I think Ruffalo is going to be a great HULK!

This is just a dream right now but the fact is that one day soon Fantastic Four will revert back to Marvel. No news on a future FOX FF movie has been heard of in a long time and I feel like this movie would have almost top priority once reverted back to Marvel. Imagine the Avengers alongside The Fantastic Four! So much WIN

Once again, this is only a dream as of right now but like the FF, Daredevil will once day revert back to Marvel and then we can have the Daredevil movie we deserve.

Those are all of the movies I can think of right now. If you have any others that should or shouldn't be made please comment down below.

I actually agree with all of your picks.
Especially with regard to Antman and Shield.
That said, there's always a chance they could nail it, but I don't see how I PERSONALLY could like either of those films if Marvel Studios make them.
I know that last bit sounds odd, but all I mean is that the MCU has a certain vibe, they work in a specific style and unless they did something phenomenally different with these films then I suspect they would fail.
Especially Shield.

On the shouldn't section:
Luke Cage - I agree with your ideas; Luke Cage is better off in a Heroes for Hire movie since he couldn't carry off a whole movie alone.
Ant-Man - I have to disagree, I could see potential with this character in terms of what Edgar Wright is making out for his movie. I recently saw this fan trailer on here that shows how an Ant-Man movie could work out with him being a scientist hired by SHIELD to take down AIM. So who knows, he could work out.
SHIELD Movie - Also agree mostly due to the fact Shield is involved in most of the Marvel movies and doesn't need a movie of its own.
R-Rated movies - I heard one of the movie companies Disney owned did some R-rated movies, but than again do we really need another Blade and Punisher movie?
War Machine - As a character that might take Iron Man's place in future Avengers stories, yeah he is a most. But I have to agree with you on a War Machine movie being uneccessary.

Should Happen:
Dr. Strange - Nuff said here, I have to agree with you on that.
Black Panther - He is a pretty important character, so why not.
Hulk sequel - A bit debattable here. On one hand, the movie did not pick up on the whole Leader thing that was left out at the end of the Incredible Hulk. On the other hand, we can see alot more from the tv show with Mark Ruffolo as the main character. Just iffy with the Hulk.
Fantastic Four - Wish it could, but that would be like having an X-Men movie that follows close to the source material with Marvel Studios behind the project.
Daredevil - . . . A Marvel Knights movie seems alot cooler. It could be like the Marvel equivilant to Watchmen.

The only movie I wouldn't want to see would be an Agents of Shield movie.

Ant-man has boring powers but Daredevil should be a movie?

For Luke Cage, I'd prefer if they do a Heroes For Hire TV show to introduce the characters to the general audience. If the show gets good ratings, do a full length film. Then maybe solo spinoffs for Cage and Iron Fist.
I disagree about Ant-Man, I think he'd be good for a solo film (although it won't be as easy as say, Iron Man or Hulk).
I definitely agree about the SHIELD movie, I don't see that working out.
I'm iffy about Punisher and Blade being done by Disney. I think they CAN tone the violence/profanity down some, but it'd be hard to do either without an R rating. Maybe have Touchstone Pictures do them both?
I'm not sure about a War Machine film, it could be cool but IDK if the character's strong enough to carry his own film.
And YES to Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Hulk 2, and F4/Daredevil under Marvel!

Spot on bro! Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. have short films already, Ant-Man wouldn't work, Blade/Punisher for HBO shows, Cage is a joke, and War Machine.... NO

Great Article.... but i would like to throw my 2 cents in here. (alot of this is if I ruled the MCU)

Luke Cage- i agree, he shouldn't have a solo film. I would introduce him via aka Jessica Jones.(I think that introduction would be an easier sell to the mainstream).

Ant Man- Totally agree. Bring him and Janet in via Avengers 2 or cameo somewhere else. They are needed for the overall interlinks between films, but I can't see this hold as a film.... MAYBE a tv show. MAYBE

Shield Movie- Again I agree. I think Shield is more interesting as this smoke behind the screen of the MCU

Blade/Punisher- Actually Disney would allow R rated films if it was under the Touchstone Banner (that's how they circumvent the "clean" Disney Image). I think Blade would still work as a film triology if you did a recast/slight reboot.
Punisher is dead in the water. Too many (bad) attempts. I would introduce Frank Castle via another character (probably Daredevil).

War Machine- Actually... this might work better as a mini-series type of thing to support the IM franchise. But as a film? I agree... no

Dr. Strange, Black Panther-Agreed

Hulk- I wouldn't be against the TV show because of VFX work. Technology has come down significantly in costs. Plus you have Del Toro behind his project and personally I think he is a wiz with blending VFX and Onset costumes/makeup. I am disagreeing with this one completely!!!!!

FF- I think the problem the first two films was that the technology wasn't quite there yet to pull off what was needed. FF as a franchise would be awesome. I think this would also hold as a really well done 1hr long dramedy too (because IMO the best part of FF is the family arguing bit).

Daredevil......
sigh.
Matt is hands down my favorite superhero (with Rogers and Tony being close seconds). The thing is, i think DD would work much much much better as a tv show. His mythos gets very detailed (i.e. Brubaker's run ties into Bendis run and has a hardcore foundation with Guardian Devil) and its allllllll those details that make the book so good. Its exceptionally hard to explain all that in a couple 2 hour films.

You don't give any examples to support your opinions for this editorial. "[Ant-Man] isn't a very interesting character power wise and would be the hardest character to date to sell". Can you explain that statement? It doesn't make any sense from where I'm standing. I never thought most people judged a superhero by his powers anyways, and how is shrinking to the size of an ant not interesting. We haven't had any heroes hit the big screen that have Ant-Mans primary power, but how many have we had that have super strength? As for selling the character, there has been plenty of movies about scientists, superheroes, and adventurers, why isn't when Ant-Man comes along what I just stated is suddenly hard to sell?

I could do that to your whole "Editorial". Just put more reasoning into your article next time.

Again with the rated-R disney thing. Do you guys know that Fright Night is a Disney movie? Thats rated-R.
Disney owns Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures so that htye can have Rated-R films. The proposal was a R rated movie from last year that not until the very end of the credits had the Walt Disney logo. Just look at the links i will post below. There are hundreds of r-rated Disney films.

even fellow CBMs Judge Dredd and Surrogates are Disney produced and or distributed. Disney has the rights to distribute the movies, for all we know a Blade and or Punisher movie could be relased under the Touchstone Pictures logo and still be a Disney movie.

they could do Blade and Punisher under their Buena Vista imprint. Disney owns some other companies too. They just wouldn't distribute those films directly.

Stick it under Touchstone and slap a Marvel Knights logo on it. No problem.

Cage could be interesting on a PG-13 level. He'd have to be urban based and not associated with the Avengers. You could make him Hero for Hire sans Iron Fist. His current look would work.
Dr. Strange would have to be extremely well-written to have broad based appeal.

I love the Hulk. Issues regarding him are a mess. They should have let Norton have more creative control. As a TV show, it doesn't look good. And trying to tie it in to the movie universe would be overly silly or overly complicated.

Black Panther has been swimming in limbo so long, it may never see the proper handling that he needs. Sad: the world's first black superhero and we can't get a decent take on him.
