As I was looking for news on The Avengers Movie at Comic-Con I came across the photos of the cast from The Avengers Movie and I noticed that the Wasp wasn't there. Where is she? Or an even better question who is she? I have heard the rumors that Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria was to play her. I disagree 100%. I don't think that Marvel has searched hard or long enough if this is the best that they could come up with. The Wasp's role shouldn't be played by a housewife whose biggest and only worry is breaking a nail or getting her apron dirty. Why not pick someone who has experience in fighting. Although The Wasp is of Asian descent I was unable to find an actress who could speak great English to play her although actress Ziyi Zhang came very close. ( Starring in movies Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Memoirs of a Geisha.) But I remembered seeing a woman in the movie 'The Descent' that had a starring role, had great fighting scenes and resembled The Wasp. Her name is Natalie Jackson Mendoza.
Natalie was born in Hong-Kong on Aug. 12. 1980, and played Juno in 'The Descent 1 and 2', and also appeared in 'Moulin Rouge' as the cameo role and lead dancer 'China Doll'. So apparently she looks Asian enough.
A few things known about 'The Wasp' that make her so important to 'The Avengers' Movie are that she is one of the founding members of The Avengers. Janet van Dyne a.k.a The Wasp's father was Dr. Van Dyne, and his associate was Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym. After her father died, Pym created a substance called "Pym Particles", and Janet convinced him to give it to her which turned her into 'The Wasp'. So once again I believe that she has a big role in the movie and would like to see her being portrayed in the right way!
