The Michigan Comics Collective is a not-for-profit organization founded in the past year with the goal of bringing together Michigan talent in the spirit of artistic collaboration. The organization's website describes their vision beautifully:
"The Michigan Comics Collective seeks to bring together creators, retail stores, and publishers from the great state of Michigan. We want to help writers find artists and artists to find writers. Everybody to find a letterer. Something for inkers and colorists to do. We help creators finish stories. And get some eyeballs on those stories. And give creators the thrill of seeing their work on the shelves of their own local comic store... We bring everybody together to get stuff done. And we try to do some good at the same time."
On May 29th, the collective launched their first "kickstarter" effort in hopes to raise funds in order to produce an anthology. The anthology will feature several stories developed by many of the brilliant creators from the collective. The group is hoping to raise enough money to produce more than three hundred 110 page copies of the anothology. You can read more about the "kickstarter" here:
