Ranking All The Fox X-MEN Movies From Worst To Best

The X-Men franchise has had plenty of ups and downs. Here is my take on the best and worst of the series. Do you agree or disagree?

10. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Well... This one is pretty obvious. Even if they hadn't screwed up Deadpool, this movie would still suck. The screenplay was bad, the cgi looked unfinished, and why the hell was Will.I.Am in this!? Um... At least Hugh Jackman was pretty good in it.

9. X-Men: The Last Stand
"I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" I have to say, I don't HATE this movie as much as most do. The cast mostly does a good job and there are some cool ideas, but Director Brett Ratner left out the depth of the first two, making everything feel kind of hollow, and much of the dialogue is really lame and forced. Hopefully Fox can finally get the Dark Phoenix Saga right with X-Men: Supernova.

8. X-Men: Apocalypse
This was pretty disappointing for me. I was really looking forward to it and it was just kinda "Meh." The Magneto stuff was great, but the plot was a mess and Apocalypse was a pretty weak villain. Also, the subplot with Stryker felt shoehorned in so there could be a Wolverine cameo.

7. The Wolverine
I like this movie. It has slow moments and the third act is a jarring change in tone, but the action is really well done and the Japan setting is cool. Not the most memorable X-Men movie, but overall very entertaining and a little underrated.

6. X-Men
The one that started it all. The very first of the franchise is a very enjoyable and groundbreaking comic book movie that does a great job at making you care about its characters. I do think that it's a little dated, but overall it's still a good movie.

5. Deadpool
Crass, violent, and self-aware, Deadpool is a comic book movie that is truly faithful to its source material. (Unlike the last on screen appearance of Deadpool) But you don't even need to be a fan to love this movie, thanks to its hilarious script and Ryan Reynolds' performance as the Merc with a Mouth.

4. X-Men: First Class
Easily the coolest, most stylish X-Men Movie, Matthew Vaughn does an excellent job as the director, as do James Mcavoy and Michael Fassbender as stars. Plus, it has Bacon, which makes everything better. Kevin Bacon that is!

3. X2: X-Men United
Bigger and better than the first, X2 is a great sequel. The action is fun, the characters are well developed, and the plot is engaging.
The ending still gets me exited for X-Men 3, until I remember how that movie turned out.

2. X-Men: Days of Future Past
One of the most entertaining comic book movies for me. The time travel aspect is really cool and the visuals are impressive, but most importantly, there's depth and humanity in its characters.

1. Logan
The newest X-Men film is also the best. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart give the best performances of their careers, Dafne Keen is fantastic as X-23, and James Mangold directs magnificently. A Truly Emotional and thrilling cinematic experience.

Agreed on the rankings. Even if I have The Wolverine ahead of the original X-Men, also(just for speculation), do you think Fox should bring Mangold in to direct Supernova(he DEFINITELY gets the tone of each comic he's adapting, in some cases in The Wolverine,I saw the panels themselves come to life)?

@JaredRWebb12 - I think Mangold would be a great choice for Supernova. Simon Kinberg could do a good job if it's true that he's directing, but i'm a little hesitant. I think either Mangold or Matthew Vaughn would be the best.

@MovieMonster1 - Simon Kinberg I'm cynical about(but would LOVE to be proven wrong) since Kinberg was the most creatively involved in Apocalypse and X-Men 3(and was the co-writer and 2nd unit director on Fan4stic)

@JaredRWebb12 - Yeah, the fact that he was a writer of the poorly made version of dark phoenix makes him an iffy choice for the new version. Although i'm not sure if the quality of X-men 3 and Fan4stic was his fault or Brett Ratner and Josh Tranks' fault.

JaredRWebb12 - 3/10/2017, 8:29 PM
@MovieMonster1 - I think Fan4stic is due to that shit gargler Rothman and Trank's relative inexperience. Brett Ratner had some quality stuff(Rush Hour,Money Talks,Red Dragon)

@JaredRWebb12 - I guess we'll have to wait and see how kinberg does. Right now i'm just glad they made such a great wolverine movie with Logan.

@JaredRWebb12 - Not sure if Mangold can do the assemble piece?

I kinda think they need new blood away from Kinberg and Singer (not going to happen I think). The biggest problem with Alocalypse imo was the feeling of 'haven't we seen this before, but better?'

@ossie85 - I think the closest thing to an ensemble he's done is Kate and Leopold and Girl Interrupted, which were both decent

Personally, I'd rank them:

1. Logan
2. DoFP
3. First Class
4. X2
5. X-Men 1
6. X-Men Apocalypse
7. The Wolverine
8. The Last Stand
9. X-Men Origins

I haven't seen Deadpool, and I'm probably never going to see it.

@Valdez - Why is it that you don't want to see Deadpool?
TheDayman
TheDayman - 3/11/2017, 1:35 PM
@BaronZemo - I don't like the character, I don't like Ryan Reynolds' acting, and I found all the trailers not that funny.

@Valdez - I you don't like offensive humor and dick jokes, it's not for you
TheDayman
TheDayman - 3/12/2017, 6:11 AM
@BaronZemo - Well, I'm fine with that, normally. I just didn't think the trailers looked especially funny. And the people I know who watched it didn't like it either.

Great list!

I'm holding out on ranking Logan for a bit before I see it again.

Imo, I gotta say I think DOFP is a great film, but a flawed one that becomes obvious on multiple viewings. X-Men, X2 and First Class I rank better.

The original X-Men in particular I think is criminally underrated both in terms of quality and significance in starting the cbm golden age

While I love Logan, I don't know if I should considered as an X-Men movie or a Wolverine movie. Because of that, I left it out of the list

1.) X2
2.) First Class
3.) Days of Future's Past
4.) Apocolaypse
5.) X-Men
6.) The Wolverine
7.) The Last Stand
8.) Origins

I think I would put Apocalypse ahead of Wolverine and Days of Future Past I would put as #1 and Logan #2. I don't know if Fantastic Four was ever established as part of this universe but it would be tied for last with Last Stand.

1) X-Men: Days of Future Past
2) Logan
3) X-Men: First Class
4) Deadpool
5) X2: X-Men United
6) The Wolverine
7) X-Men: Apocalypse
8) X-Men
9) X-Men: The Last Stand
10) X-Men Origins: Wolverine
I know a lot of you say Logan is the best. To be fair I'm still letting it sync in. All I know is I would put it in my top 3.

I found 'Days' to be entertaining but a blight on the franchise. It creates huge plot holes as well as not making a lot of sense.

Because of 'Days,' I've not rushed to see 'Apocalypse.'
